River Current

Fall Back This Sunday, November 6

Remember to set your clocks back before you go to bed this Saturday. We'll see you at church on Sunday morning all rested and refreshed from your extra hour of sleep!

Worship One...Serve One

Worshiping and serving the One who has made us for Himself

It's time for the River Church Family to sign up for the next five month volunteer term, which will run from January through May 2012. As you look through these volunteer opportunities, please keep in mind that the hardest positions to fill are those with our children. It seems that everyone has a reason for not serving in Children's Ministry on Sunday morning: "I'm with kids all week."  "I don't know how to relate to kids." "I'm too old." "That's a woman's job." "I can't commit to serving every week." "I've done my time in Sunday School." Please prayerfully consider setting aside your favorite excuse for this next volunteer term. Talk to Rhonda Perry and Katie Hartzog about some things we can do to help alleviate your challenges with serving in Children's Ministry. It's only five months - you can do it!

Thanksgiving Feast, Sunday, November 20, 3 PM

The Thanksgiving Feast is an afternoon for the entire River family (along with their friends and family) to come together for a thankful celebration of God's goodness to us. And it takes all of us to pull off this joyful event!

Please bring your favorite Thanksgiving side dish and/or dessert to share. (We usually have too many desserts and have run short on side dishes before.) Please also consider helping out in one or more of the following areas:

  • Frying Birds - a group of 5-7 fire up their fryers after the second service on Sunday.
  • Cutting them up - 3 people gather at a house near the church to carve the fried birds.
  • Field Games
    • Assist with field games for families with preschool and younger children.
    • Assist Tommy Shepherd (752-1517) with the field games for the older than 5 crowd.
  • Set Up
    • 4-5 people to stay after the second service and set up tables and chairs in the Sanctuary.
    • 2-3 people to receive and set out the side dishes, desserts, and turkey
  • Clean Up - 4-5 people to stay after and reset the Sanctuary for Sunday worship services and clean the gathering area and kitchen.

Let us know you're coming and how you can help by replying to this email or signing up in the gathering area on Sunday. Contact Dana if you have any questions, dana@rivercommunity.org.
