McFadden Farewell Festivities

We'll be saying our fondest farewells to Jill and Ian at an Ice Cream Social this Sunday, May 23rd at 6:30 PM at the church. Please bring your favorite half gallon of ice cream, an ice cream scoop, and your lawn chairs. We'll thank the McFaddens for all they have done at River and send them on their way with our prayers for God's blessing on their life and ministry.
Short Term Mission Opportunities

World Outreach, the Missions ministry of the EPC, lists several short term mission opportunities in their Spring 2010 publication. You may not be surprised to see mission opportunities in Ethiopia or Azerbaijan, but there are even opportunities to serve in places like Germany and France. Pastors, teachers, childcare workers, youth workers, computer techs, engineers... a variety of places and positions are available.

Interested? Contact Patti Moore at the World Outreach office: patti.moore@epc.org, or (734) 742-2020.
Recruitment Campaign Update
Work of Faith, Labor of Love

"Christ makes the whole church fit together perfectly. As each part does its own special work, it helps the other parts grow, so that the whole church is healthy and growing and full of love."
Ephesians 4:16

Great news - the riverkidstuf Drama Team has grown to 9 members so we are on "Go!" for rks in the Fall. Praise God! We could still use a few more actors so talk to Jamie if you're interested.

Our attention now turns to jobs in the riverkidz (Infant - Preschool) area. Rhonda Perry (rhonda@rivercommunity.org) would love to talk to you about serving on Sunday morning on a weekly or biweekly basis. There are a total of nine openings across all areas: Nursery, Toddler-1, Toddler-2, and Preschool. Three of the nine opening are for Junior Helpers which are Middle or High School students.

Check out the complete River Family Chore Chart here on in the back of the Sanctuary on Sunday morning. Click here for a complete job listing with job descriptions. Ready to volunteer? Email Dana at dana@rivercommunity.org.

The Shipley family has moved into their new home and the renovations are... well, not complete, but they still want to have you over for a potluck dinner!  Pull out your summer calendar and see which of these Fridays will work for you. Don, Chris, Cole, Mace, Campbell, Corinne, and Charis are looking forward to getting to know you better!

Summer Painting Group

The River Community Painting Group will start up again for the summer and meet at the church every other Wednesday from 9:30 am - 11:30 am: May 26;  June 9, 23; July 7, 21; August 4, 18.    For the summer, the group will also welcome teenagers to join along with the adults.  You may come to any number of sessions.  This group will still be a creating group, helping each other, but not promising formal art instruction. Participants bring their own supplies.

Please contact Jeanie Liehe (einaej22@yahoo.com or 673-5484) for more
details and to let her know you plan to come to one or more sessions.
Save the Date:  June 10 Concert

The Bay County Christian Youth Choir from Panama City, Florida, will be sharing a worshipful musical concert with us on Thursday evening, June 10.  The choir (started and directed by Jill McFadden's parents) is made up of high school students from varying denominations and backgrounds.  Each year they prepare an hour long concert, made up of songs and scripture and based around a particular biblical theme.  This year they are focusing on the book of Ephesians, and particularly the oneness or unity that we Christians have in Christ--a unity that transcends our vastly different cultural, economic, and denominational backgrounds.

The choir's tours are made financially feasible when church families are willing to take home two or more students home to spend the night after the concert.  This helps lower the cost of travelling, and gives the students and their host families a great opportunity to experience that bond we have in Christ--even as strangers.  If you'd be willing to host students on Thursday night, June 10, please email Jill at jill@rivercommunity.org for details.  To find out more about the Bay County Christian Youth Choir, visit their website here
