Happy Easter from David Shelton Ministries

Early on the first day of the week, while it was still dark, Mary Magdalene went to the tomb and saw that the stone had been removed from the entrance. So she came running to Simon Peter and the other disciple, the one Jesus loved, and said,
"They have taken the Lord out of the tomb, and we don't know where they have put him!"

A Note from Debra:

Although a brain injury and resulting dementia has taken David off the stage, we are encouraged to hear how his ministry still blesses others:

Dear Mr. & Mrs. Shelton,
I wanted to personally thank you for your ministry. I first saw one of your performances when I was in 1st or 2nd grade (back in the early 90's), when you came to Silver Lake Chapel in Everett. I was so young but even now, nearly 20 years later, I can still vividly remember portions of Mr. Shelton's performance. He was captivating. I just today thought of him and looked up your ministry online, and was thrilled to find that I can purchase his performances on DVD. I am a Mom now to a year and a half old little boy and another little boy on the way, and I can't wait until they're old enough to watch these with me.
I understand that Mr. Shelton has dementia now, so I hope he can understand this email and how grateful I am for his ministry ... I know he has touched alot of souls ... including this one little girl from way back when.

God bless you and your family! Much love!

Happy Spring and Happy Resurrection Day!

We pray you are having a great week as we remember and celebrate Jesus' sacrifice for us and His Victorious Resurrection!
This season never comes and goes without our thinking aboutdavid HPCC David's thousands of performances of "The Apostle Peter" or John 13-17 on Good Friday or John 18-20 on Easter mornings.  Today, we've been reminiscing about the many times David had the privilege of portraying Jesus in the Easter Pageants at Overlake Christian Church.

There was the year after the reliable veteran donkey "Petunia" retired and David came in riding on "Carlos" (who decided to sit down into the orchestra pit and all the violinists were more concerned about their instruments than their own safety!) or the year during rehearsal when David cracked up the cast and choir as he exited the tomb in full James Brown voice singing, "I feel good!"

Then there are the more poignant memories: the year David was asked to be Nicodemus in one of my favorite pageants called "One Voice" and of course, his final year when the tech crew actually designed a way to have "Jesus" ascend through a cleverly created cloudy ceiling...and each performance I held my breath since the ceiling was about 60 feet high!

We are so grateful to have many video clips of those pageants, along with CDs and full length films of David's performances.  We recently had a nice email from a now young mom who remembers David coming to her church almost 20 years ago. She ordered a few tapes to share with her husband and sons.  I've put her letter in the left <sidebar.

Watch our website and your email inbox as our next project is to get two more of David's wonderful stories on CD: "The Little Boy Who Didn't Know" and "Little Johnny Make-Believe: What Did You Do to Your Hands?" (John 13-20 through the eyes of an eight-year old who falls into his favorite Bible story book).

As always, we appreciate your prayers and financial support.
God Bless you,
David and Debra

Root, Blossom and Thorn  - a great 20 minute devotion!

camp 08In this CD, David uses a rose bush as an analogy for Jesus Christ, describing Creation, the Crucifixion and the Resurrection in a unique and creative way. With David's dramatic voice and beautiful orchestration and poignancy throughout, this poetic trilogy will go deep into the heart of both the believer and the seeker.

"The Apostle Peter" 30th anniversaryPeter DVD2
         Now on DVD!

It's hard to believe that 30 years ago, David's longtime friend Steve Thomas wrote this first person characterization of the Apostle Peter.  Steve's wife Debbie sewed David's first costume and that began a run of over 2000 performances at venues ranging from prison to pulpit, church camps to church services and even a public high school in Ketchum, Oklahoma!

After many years on VHS, we're happy to make this new DVD available. Filmed in front of over 1000 people with four cameras, you don't want to miss David's flagship performance.

The book of JAMES now on CD! JAMES2

David's most requested straight scripture performance. Having been called the book of practical Christianity, James is full of straightforward biblical exhortations to "practice what we preach". Great for memorization and with David's portrayal of "Michael" delivering this epistle as a eulogy for friend, the Reverend O'Toole, a memorable experience.
