Greetings!
Are you enjoying the wonderful weather? I love the sunny days. The fruit loves the sunny days as well - everything is ripening nicely and we are busy picking! It's a busy time at the orchard.
Red Haven peaches are done for the year, but now you can get Sun High and Loring. I've been enjoying mine in sundaes and milkshakes!
Apple season is just beginning. I had a fun wagon ride through the orchard yesterday with a great school group and the trees are loaded. It won't be long before there will be many varieties for you to choose from. Starting tomorrow, you can get Ginger Gold Apples. These are the first good snacking apple of the season. My children, especially Jessica, is anxious. I think apples are her main food source! |

Cancer Society Fundraiser
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ Did you know that in Pennsylvania alone, 191 people will be told today that they have cancer?
Help support our third annual fundraiser for the American Cancer Society. Please consider donating something for our silent auction which will be held on Saturday, September 12th, and Sunday, September 13th. We had a wonderful variety of items last year and I hope to have another great offering this year.
One hundred percent of the money will go to the American Cancer Society.
Are you an artist? How about donating a painting? Do you own or work at a restaurant? How about a gift certificate for a free meal? Do you sell Mary Kay/Avon/Pampered Chef/etc.? How about a small gift basket? Of course you can and should include your business card with your donations. It's a wonderful organization to support and also a nice way to let the community know about your business at the same time. Last year we had gift cards for services, parties, and lodging, as well as toys, food baskets, and homemade decorative items.
Everyone who makes a contribution to the auction will receive two free corn maze admissions as our way of saying THANK YOU for your help!
We've lost two employees who were also great friends over the past few years to cancer and I'm sure you know someone who has fought or is fighting cancer as well. Let's all come together to support the research efforts of the Cancer Society. |
Recipe of the Week
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
This week's recipe is for Peach and Blueberry Crisp. My mom made it this week for friends and everyone really enjoyed it. It calls for white peaches so I am anxious to give it a try.
Another peach and blueberry option...I just made the peach and raspberry cobbler recipe a few days ago (recipe is on the same page) but substituted blueberries for the raspberries. It was also really good. | |
