Tis the season...
Time to start decorating and if you're looking for a Christmas tree, I can recommend a place to go!
Cut Your Own Trees: Ed Elicker has a tree farm right across the street from our farm. It's a fun family tradition to pick a tree together and cut it down yourself. He's open on weekends and I'm not sure what his weekday hours are, so you might want to come on a weekend. Plus we sample hot spiced cider on the weekends so you'll want to stop by and visit us too for your free hot cider! Ed has a son, Clint, with a cut your own tree farm less than a mile away on Ridge Road so you have two places very close by.
Pre-Cut Trees: Dan's brother, Jim, owns Paulus Farm Market in Mechanicsburg and sells pre-cut trees. You're sure to find a beautiful tree. Plus, you can arrange for delivery if you don't have the right car and you're tired of asking your friend if you can borrow his truck!
Fresh Wreaths: This we will have! Hopefully very soon! We don't have them today but my hope is we will have them this weekend. |
| Recipe of the Week...
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ This week's recipe is for Sweet and Sour Kraut. Seems a little odd the day after Thanksgiving, but it's a great recipe that I think you will enjoy. Dan's birthday was this week so between his birthday and Thanksgiving I didn't come up with a more seasonal recipe. Grab a jar of Paulus Sauerkraut, it's the best there is.
This recipe comes from Jo Ann Paulus. She made it for us this summer for a picnic. We had it with hot dogs, chips, and other picnic foods. It's yummy and I guess part of the reason I'm putting it on the web page is because I like it so much and I'm afraid I'll lose the little piece of paper she gave me with the recipe! Yes - this recipe page was created in part due to my forgetful nature! I put all of my favorites on the page and now I don't have to search through all of those little index cards looking for what I want! And you thought I did it for you...
