Paulus Orchards
Greetings!

I find the internet amazing.  I can't imagine life without it anymore.  I'm one of those people that gets uptight if I go too long without checking my e-mail.  Although I'm not as bad as my brother who carries at least 2 different cell phones, including a blackberry, so he can get his voice mails and e-mails instantly.  He's just returning from his honeymoon this weekend.  Can you BELIEVE I sent him an e-mail this past week thinking he would respond when he got back but he responded from his cruise ship!  Sorry Chris - a little public jab.  I'm sure you'll find a way to jab me back!  :)

Anyhow, I got an e-mail this week from a very nice lady telling me that she enjoyed my newsletters and the recipes.  But... she doesn't live in Pennsylvania.  I knew I had a few of you "out-of staters" out there, but I thought a couple of states away max.  Imagine my surprise when I found out that she is from Austria.  Here I sit in my little office typing about the farm and moments later my words are across the ocean.  Still amazes me.  Obviously she won't sign up for the Thank You Program (our frequent shopper program)!  But I hope she enjoys the recipes.  She tells me that she can't get some of the same produce there so she's going to start a garden to try to grow it herself.  That's inspiration!

Fruit Baskets
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
 Do you want to hear the good news or bad news first?  The good news??  O.K.....
The good news is that you will be able to order beautiful fruit baskets from the orchard this year.  They will be very professional.
The bad news...due to an unfortunate shipping delay they won't be ready on Saturday as I had said in last week's newsletter.  I was surprised that I hadn't received the baskets and packing materials yet so I phoned the company this week and for some unexplained reason the order hadn't made it's way to the warehouse.  They assure me that it will be sent out quickly so I will post the information on our farm stand page as soon as I have everything.  I hate to send out another e-mail and bother you, so if you are interested in the baskets please check that farm stand page.  I will also have more information in next week's newsletter.
I apologize for the inconvenience.  I'm quite embarrassed to have to "take back" my promise of having baskets this weekend.
November and December Hours
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
Just a reminder that the stand hours have changed for November and December.

Monday through Friday is 9-6, Saturday is 9-5, and Sunday is 11-5.

The last day of the season will be December 23rd.  (Make sure you get your discount on your Thank You Card within the next 5 weeks!  Once your card is full we will give you ten percent of what you have spent back as a discount on your next purchase.  Many of you only have one or two more purchases to get that discount.)

In 2009, we will begin construction on our new kitchen!  I had hoped to have it for this year, but you know how it goes...everything always takes longer than you realize and by the time we had all of our permits we didn't have enough time to complete the work prior to opening.  So next year will be the big change.  I'm excited.

Also, the large white doors are now closed to keep the heat inside the building so please come in the regular door on the right.  We're looking forward to seeing you!
Recipe of the Week...
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
This week make a delicious apple crisp.  Dan has a few favorite apple recipes, and this is one of them.
He also loves the apple dumplings and the fresh apple cake recipes on the web site as well.  Dan's Aunt Winnie made us another apple cake this week and it was devoured.  You definitely want to give all of these a try!
Have a Great Week!
