Paulus Orchards
Greetings!

Have you ever walked in a cornfield at night?  If not, maybe you should give it a try!

A flashlight maze has been one of the most requested additions to the farm.  So...you will soon be able to get lost in the dark.  Halloween night, October 31st, from 6:30-8:30 you can come out and try the maze at night.  This is the only night the maze will be open.  If it goes well, there will be more nights added next year.

You must have a flashlight to enter the maze and the entrance will close promtly at 8:30.  Admission is $7 for all ages.  This is not a haunted event, simply a flashlight maze.  If you're up for the extra challenge, we'll see you on Halloween!

New apples this week are Fuji and Pink Lady.  These are both late varieties of apples and are the last varieties to be picked.  You can choose from a large range of apples, click here to see a complete list of what's available this week.

Twenty and fifty pound bags of potatoes will be available by the end of next week, approximately November 1st.
Fun on the Farm Family Weekends

You can bring your family to the farm for a fun filled day.  Both corn mazes will be open.  Pick the one that's best for you.  The large maze takes most people 40-45 minutes to complete and the small maze takes about 10 minutes.  If you purchase admission to the large maze, the small maze is included.  After the maze, enjoy a free tractor pulled wagon ride.

The u-pick pumpkin patch will be open as well.  Last weekend was the last of the "main" u-pick apple weekends.  There are still some Fuji on the trees and we will have those available this weekend (October 25-26) for u-pick but my guess is that they will sell out sometime during the weekend.
Recipe of the Week

Russ Whisler, Jr. brought a recipe for Cream of Crab Soup  (recipe number 2) to the farm this week.  Crab soup is a bit of a stretch for a fruit or vegetable recipe - but it does contain potatoes so I'm adding it to the list!

This made me think of my mother-in-law's crab soup, Chunky Crab Chowder (recipe number 1).  I LOVE this soup.  She sometimes has it in a crockpot so family members can come in from the cold and enjoy it anytime.  This recipe has a bunch of veggies, so if you've been freezing all summer you'll be ready for this recipe.

The weather changed a bit this week and it feels like a soup weekend so pick one of these and warm up!
