U-Pick and Maze Open Columbus Day

Greetings!

I find it hard to believe that Columbus Day weekend is already here. The corn maze, u-pick apples, and u-pick pumpkins will be open Saturday, Sunday, and Monday. Saturday hours are 9-5, Sunday hours are 11-5, and Columbus Day hours for both the farm stand and the maze/u-pick area is 9-5.

U-Pick apples this week will be Cameo, Stayman, and Rome. Cameo are sweet and similar to Fuji. All three can be used for cooking.

Blue Ribbon Apple Pie Contest

This is the last day to enter the pie contest for the Dillsburg Farmer's Fair. Pick up your entry form at the orchard today and put it in today's mail. It must be mailed by October 11th. First prize is $125 and an entry at the PA Farm Show in January. Good Luck!

Recipe of the Week

This week's recipe is applesauce cake. A few weeks ago the recipe of the week was apple cake, a fantastic recipe from Dan's Aunt Winnie. Aunt Winnie was in the stand today which made me think about the cake. You should give it a try. It's delicious. Then you can try this applesauce cake and decide which cake you like better.
