Paulus Orchards
Greetings!

This is it!  This is the weekend to come out to the maze and get lost for a great cause!  Half of all corn maze admissions will be given to the American Cancer Society through the Dillsburg Relay for Life.  Some of the Relay for Life Team members will be at the farm.  If you have any questions about the event - please don't hesitate to ask them.  It's an amazing event.  If you've never been to a Relay for Life, I encourage you to make it your goal to attend one this year.

In addition, come out for the silent auction.  One hundred percent of the money raised in the auction will go to the American Cancer Society!  It's not too late to make a donation for the auction, we would prefer receiving the donations today but if you can't make it today we'll certainly accept it anytime.  Remember, it doesn't have to be a basket.  Bring your item and we'll take care of the rest.  It can also be a gift certificate.  Ask your business if they want to help out.  Include your business card if you like.  You'll be helping the fight against cancer and letting people know about your business as well.  PLUS...we'll give you a free maze ticket for every gift that you donate.

Anyone who has fought cancer and won or who is fighting it now will receive free admission to the maze this weekend!

So come on out and check out the auction, give the maze a try and/or make a straight donation.  We're looking forward to seeing you!
U-Pick Apples
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
Bring your family out for a fun time.  Kids love to help fill the bag!  Plus apples can't get any fresher than this.
U-Pick apples for this weekend will be Gala, Cortland, and Jonathan.
U-Pick Pumpkins will most likely begin the last weekend of September.  You'll want to bring your kids and cameras for this.  Kids of all ages love to search for the perfect pumpkin.  We'll keep you updated as we get closer to the date.
In the Stand...
This is your LAST chance to get peaches!  They will be available all weekend and into next week, but I don't guarantee that they'll be available next weekend.  The yellow peaches available right now are called Autumn Glo.
I have eaten more of these than any other variety this year - I can't stop.  I think they have the best flavor of any peach we've had this year.  I know...you think I'm saying that so you'll come and buy more peaches...well, yes, of course, I have 3 kids who keep growing and need new clothes! O.K., that was a joke, I hope you're at least smiling...but the honest truth is if you haven't had an autumn glo this summer you really should get at least a small box.  If you don't agree it's amazing I'll give you your money back.
It's definitely time to start thinking "fall."  Come out and get some beautiful mums to decorate your home.  Plus apple season is here - Gala, Honey Crisp, Ginger Gold, Cortland (Saturday), Jonathan, and Summer Rambo are in the stand.  Apple Cider will be in by Saturday.  Winter squash and neck pumpkins are going on the stand today.  Lots of new things!
Teaching Help Needed
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
October is a very busy month at the orchard.  Not only are there lots of apples to be picked, but there are lots of children visiting the farm!  This is the busiest month of the year.

Would you enjoy coming out for two or three hours, three days a week to help with the tours?  We'll train you - have no fear!  If you are a fun person and have a love of children, we'll teach you the rest.  You'll learn all about the orchard and share that with the children.  You'll ride the wagon and enjoy the beautiful scenery, help the children pick some apples and pumpkins, and finally show the children the small corn maze and play area.

Help is needed on Monday, Wednesday, and Friday mornings of October.  Please call Karen if you are interested.  Applications can be downloaded here
Recipe of the Week
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
Dan's Great Aunt Winnie comes out to the farm every year for peaches and apples.  She also brings us an apple cake every year that is so moist and delicious it's hard to stop eating.  She and her husband came to the farm yesterday and I asked her if I was allowed to share her recipe.  She said yes, so here is another family favorite!  Fresh Apple Cake.  (Feel free to bring us a piece after you make it!)
