YM logo2Actives prepare for Ritual Exam

We Active Brothers of the Upsilon Mu have been busy studying hard for our upcoming ritual exam.  While the secrecy surrounding the ritual of Zeta Psi originally made studying difficult (as we couldn't hand around study guides!), we have found a new approach that works incredibly well while still observing the necessary subtlety when dealing with the delicate knowledge we are granted.

We convene in a large group of brothers (works especially well following meetings) in a safe location and proceed to go through the IHQ-provided study materials section by section. The Sigma Rho reads through the questions and every brother writes down the answers to the questions.  After this, the Sigma Rho reads through the correct answers, the Brothers write down whatever information they had missed. In the end, the 'fake tests' are thrown into a pile and set on fire to ensure absolute secrecy.

Approaching the ritual exam in this manner allows all the Brothers ample time to make sure they learn the material, as well as providing an environment where all of the brothers are able to discuss information, run trivia questions past each other, and even practice our Greek pronunciation! Add in a nice, rewarding fire of scrap paper at the end, and we have developed an interesting and safe means of studying for the ritual exam -- after all, what better to close than with a metaphorical lamp of learning?

House Fund hits $25,000 pledged!

We've reached 25% of our $100,000 goal!
We still need a lot more to insure that IF we are able to buy this house, the money will be there!  In addition to  $100,000 in pledges, our other milestones are:
1.  Written commitment from 20 Actives to live-in, insuring we have the rental base to justify the property.
2.  Finalizing the Active & Elder property stewardship model so we know this house will be well managed and cared for.
3.  A firm offer and set price from Lambda Chi Alpha.

YM House
We're on track!  We've gotten many $500 pledges, but we need everyone to pledge whatever you can - be it $100, $250, or more - to reach our goal . Please make your personal commitment to our success today!

Here's who pledged so far, mostly at the $500 level:

This is the best and possibly only chance we will ever have to buy a Chapter House.  This is as strong and determined a Chapter and as organized and savvy an Elder Board as we've ever had.  After so much effort for so many years, THIS IS OUR MOMENT.

PLEASE
CLICK HERE or email dbacker@zetapsi.org and make your own pledge towards this effort!

YM - ConnorActive Profile: Connor Epstein-Krause '10

My name is Connor Epstein-Kraus and I am a Junior psychology major. I am currently the Gamma for the Active Chapter and assistant to the Pledge Trainer.  It's been a tough semester for me personally - I recently had surgery on my left hip as a result of an old car accident that happened when I was 9.  The surgery involved shaving down the top of my leg bone which was left misshapen due to that old trauma. I was out of school for almost three weeks but upon my return I resumed my positions and duties.  Being part of this great Brotherhood really helped make my adjustment back to school a lot easier and more enjoyable - except those very late Saturday nights when our most worthy Phi begins getting romantically inclined towards my crutches...

Financially we are almost at our goals. We just paid our latest set of fees to IHQ and have only a few brothers who owe dues, all on steady payment plans that will have them paid off by the end of the semester.  We have just begun our I-week and the pledges are enthusiastic to complete their pledging and we cannot wait until the end of this week when we can call them brothers.  Overall Zeta Psi and the brothers of the Upsilon Mu chapter are doing GREAT and I remain proud to be a Zete!
