It was a wonderful day to golf on the Penn State

brotherhood. In addition, the Pi Sigma chapter raised
$3,000 for Zete Kids USA and the Four Diamonds
Foundation-THON (pediatric cancer research and
assistance).

Tri-States Scholars Fall 2006 Internship available |
 |
The Tri-States Scholars is pleased to extend one of
its first internship openings for the Fall of
2006.
SibTech, Inc. (Newington, CT).
Applicants should have a working knowledge of
biology, and/or biotechnology. Potential interns can
expect to spend the vast majority of their time in the
lab of a biopharmaceutical company completing
valuable, cutting edge research while achieving a
foundation for a career in biotechnology. Past
interns at SibTech were all named co-authors of
articles in major scientific journals - a definite
plus for those pursuing careers in BioSciences!

WELCOME to the Summer 2006 Washington Scholars Fellows! |
 |
The Summer 2006 Class of the Washington Scholar
Fellowship Program is officially underway. Zetes from
all across the country are represented in this class,
from Maryland to Michigan to Washington State.
Word of the program and its benefits has spread
throughout Zeta Psi creating our largest pool of
applicants in the history of the program. From that
group, we selected fourteen highly qualified and well
deserving Zetes to begin working toward careers in
public service.
This class includes eight new positions never
previously held by Washington Scholars. Four of
those positions are on Capitol Hill working directly for
members of Congress or the committees they chair.
We have five Scholars working in the executive
branch and four others involved with trade, lobbying,
or non-governmental organizations.
For a
full list and descriptions click here!
The Scholars have just completed their orientation
and class elections and have already submitted their
first weekly reports
(see them here). The summer calendar is full of
events this year including a job bank seminar, guest
speakers, a class philanthropy project, networking
opportunities, a trip to see the Washington Nationals,
and, of course, Convention in late August.

ALL NEW: ZETE Congressional Internships! |
 |
With the success of the Washington Scholars
Fellowship Program, we now have several Zetes
working in Congressional Offices full time. One, Zach
Cikanek from Columbia, has now been there almost a
year and has developed a broad cross-section of
contacts in other House Congressional Offices with
the staff members that handle those intern
programs. This has given us an excellent ability to
place interns on House Congressional Staffs
throughout the year.
For those of you that have an interest in working on
a Congressional Staff, please send Zach an e-
mail indicating when you
could be available for this program, where you live
AND where your parents live [most Members of
Congress prefer constituents from their home district
or state], your year of graduation, and attach a
copy of your resume or bio, preferably in MS Word
format.
Your stipends would be handled through the
Washington Scholars Program and you would be a
part of that term's WS Class, but since these
placements are much more difficult and involved,
we're asking that you work direct with Zach on
them. Also, the standard housing restrictions apply,
with only 4 bunks available at the Maryland Zete
House, so those who apply that have relatives or
friends they can bunk in with during their internship
have one less hassle in that regard. Refer all
questions to Brother Cikanek.
We're really excited with this "new Zete Program" as
it adds one more benefit that being a Zete brings to
you that other fraternities do not have available.
Use it during rush.

2006 Founder's Weekend events went GREAT! |
|
In celebration of the 159th anniversary of Zeta Psi,
Regional Alumni Club events were held in New York
City, Boston, and Chicago - the first of many!
The Zeta
Psi New York City Alumni Club held it's first
annual Founder's Day reception at the Cornell Club,
followed by the Psi/Cornell chapter's own Grand
Alumni Reception, where some 40+ Zete's & dates,
spanning 16 chapters and 40 years of Brotherhood,
enjoyed the revelry, including our Alpha Phi Alpha &
longest serving Executive Director, Greg McElroy,
Phi/NYU '70. Plans are afoot for future New York City
Alumni Club events, so stay tuned!
The
Zeta Psi Boston Alumni Club held it's first
annual Founder's Day event at the Rock Bottom
Brewery in Boston, with a guided tour of the brewery
and a taste of all of Rock Bottom's premium beers. A
smaller and more intimate event, the reception saw
brothers from 5 chapters, including Pi Tau/WPI Alumni
President, Evan Pressman.
The
Zeta Psi Chicago Alumni Club first annual
Founder's Day was held at Goose Island Brewery in
the heart of Chicago, with a brewery tour and
reception, and brothers from 4 chapters in
attendance!
With these and other Regional Alumni Club events
coming up - in DC, Dallas, Houston, Los Angeles, and
more, we hope to see more brothers join in the Zete
Camaraderie, personal and professional networking,
and FUN with our Regional Alumni Clubs. For more
