Help us tell your story!

"Dear Leslie, I wanted to let you know how utterly impressed I was with the speech you gave for our annual breakfast. I've been with the Graham ISD five years now, and yours, by far, has been the best breakfast presentation during that time. I took what you said to heart and decided to be the best cheerleader for Graham Junior High School, all of the Graham ISD, and all public schools. I've known for five years that Graham is a great place to be, but as a result of your speech, I'm convinced now more than ever how blessed I am to be where I am and doing what I do. Thank you so much for giving all of us a great start to our year!"

95/5 Dilemma

A report recently issued by the Pearson Foundation and America's Promise Alliance (AASA is a member) "provides some of the first positive signs that America is making progress reducing a nationwide crisis in the number of students who drop out of high school.  The number of high schools were 40% or more of the students fail to graduate fell significantly from 2002 to 2008."

More than 1,700 classrooms awarded 2010-2011 Texas School Ready! certification

More than 1,700 prekindergarten classrooms will receive the 2010-2011 Texas School Ready! certification based on the strong work they have done preparing their students for kindergarten.

The designation was earned by following the performance of students who were in pre-kindergarten in the 2008-2009 school year. The classrooms that earned this state certification were proven to prepare the students with the fundamental early reading and social development skills needed to be successful in kindergarten.

on the photo for more details about this incredible program inspired by the dreams and writings of their daughter Rachel who was the first student killed at the Columbine High School tragedy in 1999.

Special thanks to our event hosts The Customer Care Teacher, Central Market, Eddie Deen & Company Catering, H-E-B, Shiver Associates Architects, and Southwest Airlines!

"What a great evening.  Friends of Texas Public Schools has done so much to get the word out that our schools are providing a great education for the  students of Texas. The dinner, the program and the MESSAGE were outstanding. The Grand Prairie students should be taped and sent to news media across the metroplex. We don't have to wait for Superman...there are thousands of educators who not only teach...but rescue students every day. Rachel's Challenge  was the perfect recipient of your annual award. The Scott's efforts to turn their personal tragedy into their personal crusade to help students and educators to care about each other and to create a chain reaction of compassion has made a difference in so many young lives.

Texas schools earn
an A for Curriculum Standards and Accountability

Texas earns an "A" for its curriculum standards, assessment and accountability system in Education Week's Quality Counts, an annual evaluation that tracks key education indicators and that grades the states on their policy efforts and outcomes. Only five states earned a grade higher than Texas' 95.6.
