Greetings!
|
American Repertory Ballet hopes you've found steady, dry ground in these last few weeks, but we are all metaphorically shaking and gushing in anticipation of the exciting Fall season!
The Company has welcomed seven new, talented dancers to its roster. You can read more about them on our website. This fall season will also bring to the stage new choreography, including world premieres by Resident Choreographers Mary Barton and Matthew Keefe and a revival of Kirk Peterson's The Eyes that Gently Touch.
This October, Career Transition for Dancers will be honoring ARB Trustee Nancy MacMillan at its Annual Jubilee. ARB will be performing Company Director Douglas Martin's new piece, Pathways, which he created to honor Nancy as part of the celebration at New York City Center.
New to Princeton Ballet School this year is a partnership with the Arts Council of Princeton; this Fall, a series of Children's Ballet Classes is coming to the Arts Council's Paul Robeson Center at 102 Witherspoon Street. CLICK HERE for more information about the classes offered at this downtown Princeton location. Classes for all locations start on September 9th -- looking forward to seeing our returning students and welcoming our new students!
With all this new also comes the return of ARB traditions. The Company will return to Raritan Valley Community College this year for its Fall Season, Opening Night, which will feature the works by Barton, Keefe, and Peterson. ARB will also bring back its acclaimed Nutcracker performances and events to venues across the state. Don't miss this holiday and community tradition since 1963 which, this year, will feature new Act II sets designed by Carl Sprague.
On September 10, Princeton Ballet School will continue its tradition of performing for the local community at Cranbury Day. The Company will also continue to engage with the community. ARB's monthly enrichment series, On Pointe, is returning this season, kicking off on Friday, September 23. October 13-15, ARB Resident Choreographers Douglas Martin, Mary Barton, and Matthew Keefe will present special inside looks at the choreographic process at various places in the community. See this email's sidebar for more information about ARB community engagement!

The School

As they have every year, community members will crowd Princeton Ballet School's spacious Cranbury studio at 29 North Main Street to watch advanced students perform classical and contemporary repertoire. This year, the event will be held on September 10, 2011. Performances will begin at 2:00pm and 3:30pm. After each show, Princeton Ballet School will host a fun 10-minute sample ballet lesson for those who are inspired to give it a try.
On the street outside the studio, ARB and Princeton Ballet School staff and faculty will be offering information about the School's and the Company's programs along with some giveaways, activities, and surprises for children.
Cranbury Day will be an exciting chance to catch previews of ARB's Nutcracker and ARB Workshop students performing Sherry Alban's Jig, and to connect with the artists and students of Princeton Ballet School and American Repertory Ballet. Hope to see you there!

Princeton Ballet School is thrilled to be partnering with Arts Council of Princeton to be able to offer classes in downtown Princeton at its new "pop up" studio at the Paul Robeson Center for the Arts, home of the Arts Council of Princeton.
Located at 102 Witherspoon Street in downtown Princeton, the Paul Robeson Center will accommodate Princeton Ballet School's growing program by allowing the school to provide more classes in the Center's Dance Studio and Solley Theater. These classes will be offered in addition to those held at Princeton Ballet School's main studio locations at the Princeton Shopping Center, Main Street in Cranbury and downtown New Brunswick.
"This partnership represents the perfect match between our two longstanding Princeton arts organizations," says Princeton Ballet School Director Mary Pat Robertson. "We are thrilled to be able to complement the Arts Council's activities by offering dance classes at the beautiful Paul Robeson Center for the Arts."
