It's Nutcracker Season!
partiers at nut
Greetings!
Everyone at American Repertory Ballet and Princeton Ballet School is in full Nutcracker swing!

Check out the Nutcracker Events and Performance Calendar to the right, and be sure to purchase your tickets today so you don't miss ARB's 48th annual presentation of The Nutcracker featuring new choreography by Douglas Martin and a re-staging of company founder Audrée Estey's Act I scenes.  The professional dancers of ARB will be joined by students from the Princeton Ballet School to present this holiday classic.

"Education and Outreach"
has been renamed "Access and Enrichment" to more accurately reflect the goals of the program: to broaden access and exposure to dance to those who might not otherwise have the opportunity to experience the art form, and to deepen the understanding and appreciation of dance to audiences who want more insight into the form.

Ticket sales, school tuition and support from foundations and government grants only support a portion of ARB's programs.  Please consider making a donation to the organization to help bridge the funding gap we face each year as we continue to bring the joy and artistry of dance to audiences and students through our artistic and educational programming.  Click here to donate and learn more about how you can help support.

The Company

2010-2011 ARB Dancers with Douglas Martin

The company took a short break from their Nutcracker rehearsals last month for a residency at Rutgers University, where they offered master classes and performances to students ranging from dance majors at the Mason Gross School of the Arts to dabblers in the 1100 student dance appreciation class.  The student audience was moved to tears when the company performed Philip Jerry's Our Town, an interpretation of Thorton Wilder's classic play set to Aaron Copeland's moving score.

Be there when these stunning performers unveil Martin's new choreography for ARB's The Nutcracker.

And don't forget to check out the company blog, where ARB dancers bring you inside the action of rehearsals!

Princeton Ballet School News

Princeton Ballet School recently launched an extensive Trainee program designed to train post-high school students for a career in ballet.  The trainees have a rigorous schedule which includes six hours of training plus rehearsals six days a week, often alongside the professional dancers of American Repertory Ballet.

ARB welcomes the new Trainees who include Mathilde Labrusse, a native of Paris, France; Kelsey McFalls, who is taking a leave of absence from NYU to pursue dance as a career; Shaye Firer from Winnipeg, Manitoba; and Kara Harvey, who recently graduated from Oklahoma University with a B.F.A. in dance.

Bryana Jones (Piscataway), Erin Keegan (Mercerville), Evan Law (Somerset), and Karen Leslie Moscato (Pennington), all Princeton Ballet School standouts, were also admitted to the prestigious program.  Keegan returns to Princeton Ballet School after spending last season in the Miami City Ballet Trainee program.

Look for these trainees and many other students from the Princeton Ballet School at this year's 48th annual performances of The Nutcracker.
