| Greetings! | |
The American Repertory Ballet and Princeton Ballet School had a busy April:
ARB's DANCE POWER program celebrated the culmination of their 25th year in the New Brunswick public school district with their annual Waiting in the Wings performance. Entitled Celebration! a Quarter Century of Dance, the program was centered around popular music from the last 25 years. The students wowed the packed crowd on April 26th at the new New Brunswick High School. The third grade students from the district were joined by DANCE POWER Scholars and ARB dancers Peggy Petteway and Kevin Byrne, who performed Graham Lustig's Torch. Sixteen new DANCE POWER Scholars, who will have the opportunity to continue their dance studies at Princeton Ballet School, were announced at the event.
The Company and the School have both been gearing up for May Performances (see sidebar on the
Company's In-Studio
performance schedule and below about the School's Sleeping Beauty
performances).
Don't forget to save the date for another Book Fair at Barnes & Noble. If you can't make the event, you can still help support ARB by shopping online at Barnes & Noble (see below for details).

Princeton Ballet School will present the classic ballet, The Sleeping Beauty, Saturday May 8, 2010 at 2:00pm and 7:00pm at the Patriots Theater at the War Memorial in Trenton, NJ. The School's adaptation of Marius Petipa's classic ballet is directed by Douglas Martin and Mary Pat Robertson, with additional re-staging and choreography by Maria Youskevitch and the Princeton Ballet School faculty, in order to showcase the emerging talent at the School.
Set to the music of Tchaikovsky, the production displays the depth and strength of the talent at Princeton Ballet School. Lead roles are danced by members of the American Repertory Ballet Workshop (ARBW) the pre-professional division of the school, led by Balletmasters Douglas Martin and Maria Youskevitch. Supporting roles are performed by other students of Princeton Ballet School, ranging from age five to adult.
This year, Karen Leslie Moscato and Katarina Rafael will be performing the lead role of "Aurora" while Christopher Costantini and Ian Law
(who is currently a trainee with ARB) will be performing the lead roles of the "Prince" and "Bluebird". All four leads have been students at Princeton Ballet School for many years.
