Dear CTKers,
Arrows Out generic logo

What does it mean to be a "CTKer"?  CTKers are part of a worldwide network of small groups and worship centers that are passionate about reaching out to unchurched people and connecting people into meaningful relationships with each other.  CTKers love meeting with other disciples of Jesus to encourage and strengthen each other in their spiritual walk.  CTKers live in such a way that reaches out to unchurched people in their everyday lives.  CTKers worship God as a lifestyle, not just at a weekly event.  And in my humble opinion, CTKers are a very fun to be around and joyful group of people.

You're on the mailing list, but are you a CTKer?  I hope you are!

Anniversary celebrations across the network

A few of our CTK worship centers in the US celebrated meaningful anniversaries in the last couple of months.

  • CTK LaConner, WA celebrates 10 years in the small town of LaConner.  Special thanks to Pastors Jon Skiffington, Jim Pearce, and current Pastor John Aguilar for their sacrificial service over these years.birthday cake
  • CTK Port Orange, FL celebrates their first anniversary in July.  Under Pastor Scott Kirschner's leadership, the church has gone from zero to an average of 70 people each week, and has been "weaned" from CTK Network grant funds to be taking care of all their financial obligations on their own now.
  • CTK Burlington, WA celebrated one year in their new facility on Fountain Street.  It has been a year of strong growth in numbers and in relational building, as they have had more "elbow room" than their downtown Burlington location afforded.

CTK South Whidbey reaching out to artist community

Pastor RicRick Vander Kamk Vander Kam shares this update on the development of a new worship center on South Whidbey Island (WA):

"Our dedicated South Whidbey CTKers are journeying through a renewal of vibrant spiritual disciplines as we grow together in Christ. Last Monday we entered into an exploration of Psalm 139 through a practice known as 'Temenos'. The word is from an ancient Greek idea denoting 'sacred space,' and the practice allows time for establishing trust and developing our souls through reflection on The Word. This interactive time with the Spirit was followed by discussion of God's intimate knowledge of us.

"Excitement in our small group is building as we anticipate our first two 'Arrows Out' offerings to our communities on South Whidbey. Our core group, which meets on Monday nights, will participate with our Christian Artist's Group in presenting an evening of music, poetry, art and dessert. This will be an evening of open mic songs and poetry as well visual art created live throughout the course of the evening. The Christian Artist's Group draws artists from both the Coupeville and Freeland communities of Whidbey Island.

"Our second event, 'Opening the Book of Nature', will be held October 1st and is quickly filling up. 'Opening the Book of Nature' is a national organization that is "dedicated to the teaching, and the recovery of a Christian understanding of God's creation as a framework for a holy wisdom." This ancient practice will be offered anew through your South Whidbey CTK.

Pray for us as we plan for our first worship center services beginning in the fall.  For more information about CTK South Whidbey, contact Pastor Rick at 949-291-7743.

CTK Lopez Island (WA) welcomes "new" pastor
Van Bowling 2011

On Sunday, April 3rd, CTK Regional Pastor Cliff Tadema, along with Curt Bisby from CTK Anacortes, performed the installation service for Pastor Van Bowling at CTK Lopez Island.  Although new to being a full-time pastor, Van is not new to CTK.  He has been around from the start of CTK International in 1999, in various leadership roles - most recently serving as Worship Pastor at CTK Anacortes.

When asked about this transition, Van said, "It's been exciting to get to know the people, learn about Lopez and island life. Most of all, I'm excited to see what God has planned next to expand His kingdom as the people of CTK Lopez reach out to the community with love, acceptance and forgiveness."

Bowling becomes the third pastor for CTK Lopez, following founding pastor Jerry DuPuis and Jim Diacogiannis.
