| Dear CTKers,
Today is Groundhog's Day in the USA. A strange ceremony is held in a little town in Pennsylvania in which a groundhog named Phil is released from a hole. How he acts is supposed to predict an early or late spring. But thanks to the iconic movie by the same name, Groundhog's Day has also come to symbolize being stuck in the same activities day after day, and a search for meaning in the midst of mind-dulling repetition. All of us get stuck in ruts from time to time, but the amazing promise of scripture is that God can put a new song in our hearts each day, and help us to find Him in the midst of every new day.
Sometimes getting out of our normal routine can spur us forward in our spiritual lives and get us out of a repeating, boring, life. The annual Arrows Out Ministry Conference is coming February 26 (see article below), and I hope you will consider joining others in trying to move forward into a more purposeful life of discipleshop.
Sincerely, Director, CTK Network Resources

CTK Philippines gives Bibles, looking for sponsors
Thanks to the generous support of individuals in the CTK Network, funds were recently sent to Pastor Ronaldo Mamintod (National Pastor for CTK Philippines) to give Bibles to small group participants in their language. For many of these people, this is the first time they have had a Bible of their own. In Surallah, Pastor Ronaldo is starting a program to meet the desperate needs of street children, which he described in a recent note: Education, and morality is very low here in the Philippines. I live in the dark side of the city and I know that some people, instead of finding a job, want to drink and to play gambling outside their house. They depend much on what the government may give them. For this reason CTK Philippines is launching a new program to help the poor and needy children who live in the street and even in the market places. For only $50 a month (the same amount you may spend on daily snacks), we can provide food, medical/dental care, and help them finish their education. If you would like to help sponsor a child in the Philippines in the name of Jesus, please go to www.ctkonline.com/giving. With online giving you can set up a recurring gift for this purpose - simply select the "Worldwide" fund, and the "Philippines - Orphans" subfund. For more information, contact Pastor Ronaldo.

CTK Nampa goes Arrows Out: provides Christmas cheer to victims of abuse
Stacey King and Michaela Beauvais of CTK Nampa (ID) saw a need for Christmas cheer for the victims of domestic and child abuse, and decided to do something about it. On December 20, After 3 months of work with others at CTK Nampa, thirteen women and 32 children were blessed with a Christmas party in which they received gifts of many kinds. "The intention was never to preach, but to build relationships and think and be outside our own lives" according to King.
Members of CTK Nampa made private cash donations, brought gently used and new women's and children's clothing, and sponsored each child with a gender and age specific gift to be handed out by Santa and Mrs. Clause. Custom earrings were made by Darnell Haskell for each mother, and Kathy Ingram who owns a salon in Caldwell, donated haircuts and cosmetics so that they could feel fresh and confident as they look for work.
The 13 mothers also had an opportunity to shop for free clothing for both themselves and their children. "Many of these women are left home with little or nothing. Hopefully this helped them reclaim part of their lives, and gave them the tools to search for new jobs along with coats and winter clothing for their children," said Beauvais.
"It was truly a miracle how folks have responded," King added.

Hindus hear gospel, saved from planned suicide

In early January, National Pastor Yedidya Parker was preaching the gospel in an open air meeting on the street. Those who heard the good news that night included a Hindu couple who had been contemplating suicide that night when they heard the music. This couple was hungry and was about to be evicted and have their belongings thrown out in the street. They came to Yedidya after the gospel presentation and turned to Jesus. They received some financial assistance, and they have been attending church with Yedidya in Secunderabad ever since.
Please pray for and support the ongoing ministry of CTK India. |
