Dear CTKers,
Arrows Out generic logo
Last month's lead article was a plea for help for our brothers and sisters at CTK in Pakistan.  This month I'm glad to share an update on the relief work going on there, as well as a happy ending to an all-night prayer vigil which was interrupted at gunpoint in Nairobi, Kenya.  Whether overseas or in the USA, CTK continues to reach as far as relationships will take us, remembering to keep it personal.

Sincerely,
Director, CTK Network Resources
Flood relief reaches CTKers in Pakistan
CTK Pakistan gives new shoes and clothes

Over the past month, nearly $10,000 was sent by CTK donors to aid the suffering people of CTK Pakistan and their communities affected by the worst flooding in the region since 1929. CTK Pakistan head Pastor Shahbaz John sent an email recently with the following update on the situation.

In Pakistan between 8-9 million people have been displaced from their homes, including 11,000 villages.  For these people the present situation is hopeless. Most houses are damaged badly or have fallen down completely due to the floodwater. River water came into many houses, rising to above six feet in some places. People are looking for shelter, going to relatives' houses or to churches.

In some areas there is still standing water and people are afraid to go back to see their homes. Their houses and what they owned is mixed with mud. The buildings and houses are cracked and not suitable for living in.  The smell of the water in some places is too bad to stand near. Human bodies and animals around the fields are still stuck in the mud.

CTK Pakistan has been able to provide relief aid (food items, non food items, bed sheets, blankets, livestock vaccination and medical camps etc.) to CTK congregations and other people who are living in the tenet colonies with the support of our dear friends from USA and in Pakistan.  VIEW ALBUM OF PICS

On the behalf of CTK flood affected victims and CTK Pakistan, thank you for all you are doing to help.

Gratefully,

Pastor. Shahbaz John

Burlington (WA) starting Sat Night service

New Burlington LocationBeginning October 10th, CTK Burlington (WA) will be offering a Saturday night service at 6:00pm.  The service will be identical to their Sunday morning services and will last one hour. There will be a full kids ministry program featuring Kidmo for the older kids.  Anyone who can't attend a Sunday morning service due to work or family schedules is invited to join the congregation of CTK Burlington.  CTK Burlington now meets at their new location at 988 Fountain St.

All-night vigil in Nairobi interrupted by thieves, but happy ending ensues

At 2:30am September 11, an all-night prayer vigil being held at CTK Nairobi's worship center was interrupted by a gang of about 50 thieves.  At gunpoint, the gathered congregation was ordered to lay down and be still.  The thieves proceeded to take all the sound equipment, musical instruments, chairs, and personal handbags and cell phones of everyone there.  By the grace of God no violence was done to the church people.

When the news of this crime reached the ears of people at CTK Friday Harbor and Mount Vernon (WA), an emergency special offering was collected the very next day.  Within two days, funds had been raised and wired to Pastor Austin Oyula begin_of_the_skype_highlighting     end_of_the_skype_highlighting to replace all of the stolen equipment, including the cell phones of the individuals in the church.  VIEW ALBUM OF PICTURES

This is just another example of the fact that CTK is built to respond to needs quickly, whether they be in one local congregation or around the world.
