Editor's Corner
A recent conversation reminded me of what sets CTK apart from many other Christian churches. A friend commented on how they have been pleasantly surprised to find CTK leaders more interested in extending grace than a pointing finger of judgment. This reminded me how important it is to express what we are FOR (love, acceptance, forgiveness) than what we are AGAINST.

Snakes, fires, and pastors conferences in India
Continental Pastor Yedidya Parker of CTK India recently sent word of two trials he has endured, and asks for prayers and support for a series of Pastors' meetings he will be conducting in the next few weeks.
On September 24th, Yedidya woke in the morning in the hut where he and a co-worker were staying while working on construction of a Bible college. While he was out of the hut, his co-worker found a King Cobra sleeping under Yedidya's cot. Thank God they were able to kill the cobra without incident. Then, tragically, a few days later that hut burned to the ground due to a short circuit. Yedidya and his co-worker were not harmed, but the entire hut and it's contents were destroyed. But Yedidya continued to move forward with the construction of the Bible college and plans for a series of Pastors' conferences over the next few weeks.
Please pray for these meetings and for strength for Yedidya.
October 4 - Nalagonda District (150 pastors)
October 8 - Krishna District
October 9 - Guntur District
Yedidya also asks for prayer for the people of his home district, Andhra Pradesh, where people are suffering from an outbreak of swine flu.

Calling Skagit Valley pray-ers
Imagine hundreds of Christ followers from across the Skagit Valley (WA) joining together to pray for the salvation of people in the region and beyond. Imagine people putting church differences aside to simply seek His Kingdom come, and His will be done on earth as it is in heaven. This is the vision God has given Robert Bateman of CTK Burlington. If being a part of a weekly gathering for this purpose brings excitement to your soul, please contact Robert via email or at 360-661-4922. At this point this is only a dream, but with action, it can become a reality. |

CTKers simplify in Burlington and Whidbey Island
In response to a series of messages on "Voluntary Simplicity" preached by Pastor Todd King (Whidbey) and Pastor Dave Browning (Burlington), both CTK locations held an event called "The Great Giveaway" on September 19th.
CTKers were challenged to either get rid of 100 items they did not need, or decide which 100 personal items they would KEEP and give away the rest.
Both the Whidbey and Burlington congregations ended up giving away thousands of items which were either given directly to needy people who came to the Great Giveaway, or to service organizations who took the items still remaining at the end of the day. Voluntary Simplicity is a movement that challenges American Christians to break the hold that "stuff" has on their heart by learning to simplify their lives.
