BICYCLE FRIENDLY BUSINESS (BFB) PROGRAM
Randy Salky has stepped forward to take on the task of Committee Chair for the Bicycle Friendly Business Program. He has several people interested in the committee and hopes to have a meeting for further planning within the next month.
The BFB program helps business plan for how they might participate in cycling related events and help achieve community cycling goals at the same time. It also enables businesses to extend the reach of their support for cycling events or projects into a year-round message.
This will be a great opportunity for businesses to contribute to the many RCR events, support the cycling community and be recognized for the partnership. If you have a Bicycle Friendly Business get in touch about enrolling in the program. Volunteers are needed for this committee. Please contact Jackie if you are interested. |

BIKE TOWN USA TASK FORCE
The Bike Town USA Task Force is now working on the idea of a Bike Summit for the Fall of 2010. They are interested in hiring a person to plan this event and are working on funding sources. They need to raise between $20 and $25 thousand to make this happen. A motion was made for RCR to help fund this project and the Board voted to table the motion until they have a better understanding of club finances.
The initial objective of this Task Force was to bring community decision makers together to create a vision and purpose to move forward on the idea of developing the potential of Steamboat as a biking destination. This task force includes representatives from the City, County, BLM, Forest Service, Ski Area and Routt County Riders. Please contact RCR Executive Director, Jackie Brown, if you are interested providing input and she will pass the information along to the Task Force.

Share the Road - Please!
RCR has received a number of complaints reports from drivers on County Roads about riders riding two-abreast (and more) failing to yield to traffic. Please remind your fellow riders that respect for other road users is "a two-way street". If cyclists want respect we have to show consideration for others.
