Photo's taken early 1960's Reservations TCA. Location, (most likely) old Church Street office prior to move to 130 Bloor West. Unfortunately the names escape me now...maybe someone will identify same.

This group represents  the First employees to receive Station Services training in Winnipeg as Viscount instructors.

Trainees received 65 hours of instruction on the Viscount Aircraft, after which they returned to their respective stations and trained local personnel.

March 15 wasn't just another work day for this flight crew who worked the inaugural L-1011 flight from Toronto to Vancouver. There were smiles all around in anticipation of doing their part to enter the day in the Company history book.

E. F. (Dusty) Miller, Procurement  Assistant. Purchasing & Facilities. Montreal (right), receives his 25-year pass from Frank Rummery, Procurement Supervisor.

Dusty's quarter century career began with Winnipeg Stores in 1948 leading to an 18-year stint in Vancouver before he was transferred to Montreal in 1970.

Cargo Teamwork
Air Canada cargo services and some of its people were present 'to pick up the pieces" as the Canadian Government brought more than 500 U.S. buyers to a Montreal showing of clothing manufacturers.

The Trade, Industry and Commerce department also brings European buyers to similar shows in different parts of Canada. Last year, exports from such totaled more than $4 million. The Company works closely with the government at these export shows, and is able to sell its cargo services to many buyers.

Seen at the Montreal show are, seated: Montreal Cargo Sales Rep Anita David, and Neil Peacock of Trade, Industry and Commerce. Standing are: Cargo Sales & Service Manager Hank Stewart, and Sales Rep John DeGroot, both of Winnipeg, and Market Development Manager John Burghardt.

London sees new wardrobe
Stewardesses Barbara Dunn and Marianne Krottaz attracted considerable interest and attention in London, England last month when they posed in the new In-Flight wardrobe against many famous landmarks around the city.

They are shown in the photo outside the Royal Lancaster Hotel, complete with coats and matched luggage. Inside, the Financial Times Conference on World Tourism and Travel was in progress. What better audience to show off the new fashions. During the coffee break, they mingled with the conference attendees, and received many complimentary remarks on the new wardrobe.

A couple of PWA Employee magazine covers... one is from 1970 showing the crews who manned the Queens visit and flight on A/C 732. The other is from September 1969 with the back cover as well with the In Memoriam to Val Hennell & Brian Bourne after the 640 crash in Campbell River.

Aircraft 732 carried the Queen of England, Prince Phillip, and Princess Anne in July 1970 on a tour of the Arctic.

The interior was configured with Boeing's Executive Suite. Front End crew were Capt Robin Mackie and Capt Jimmy Lightbown; Flight Attendants: S Gray, H. McLeod, G. Moore, B. Snyder, and L. Duffy.  Pursers J. Bisaillon, and R Hatch along with Flight Engineer V. Robertson.  The aircraft is CF-PWE fin 732 c/n 19743.

It all started in 1986 with my first book, Canucks Unlimited, and continued through the late '90s up to 2004 as publisher of Canada's top-selling aviation magazines, Aviation Quarterly and Aviation Canada.

As I read the NetLetter I am pleased to the material from Between Ourselves.  I was Editor for many years and introduced Horizons in both official languages, because of our Crown Corporate nature, before we were directed to do so by Ottawa. Before returning to follow Ed Thackray after his passing, I was in our Advertising Division where my duties included the Interliner newsheet which often carried a cartoon by Dave Mathias, one of our managers in Germany.

Dave's "inside look" at our industry produced some pertinent laughs and copies were made to other airline publications. I compiled a number of his cartoons in small volumes and found two them when doing a little tidying up. If you will give me a snail mail address I'll send them along and you may want to reproduce some of them. - Norman.
