Ccaps Develops Tool to Adapt Translation Memories to New Brazilian Portuguese Spelling Rules
New tool designed to cut time and costs for language vendors and clients when adapting pre-translated texts to the new spelling system
Rio de Janeiro - March 5, 2009 - When the world's eight Portuguese-speaking countries officially adopted a new orthographic system, Ccaps' immediate concern was the impact such a measure would have on legacy files and translation memory databases. With the new system set to take effect as of January 1, 2009, Ccaps wasted no time. In a matter of weeks, the company's language and engineering teams worked together to create a simple yet highly effective process to save vendors' time and cut costs for clients.
Called the Ccaps New Brazilian Spelling TM Compliance Tool, the solution is a simple and user-friendly tool designed to adapt Brazilian Portuguese words in exported translation memory files to the new spelling rules. By following a set of simple instructions, translation memories are quickly adapted to the new spelling rules, saving countless hours of manual work and the associated costs. Expected throughput is around 100 corrected words per hour, meaning thousands of translation memory units a day, and the process can be performed by Ccaps at highly reduced costs when compared to the manual procedure of reviewing each TM unit. The tool can also be quickly tailored to meet customer's specific needs.
