This Gazette issue's "Tunisian of the Month" is Ferid Abbas. This Tunis-based, US-educated businessman has degrees in Political Science and in Economics from Georgetown University, and from Cornell University, respectively.

Currently, he is President and CEO of Setcar, a highly diversified company (Petroleum, Maritime, Construction, Auto maufacturing and Hotels).

Mr Abbas is as versatile as his company is diversified: in addition to being the former president of the perstigious Club Africain soccer club , he is the Honorary Consul General of Iceland, and serves on the board of directors of The Arab Tunisian Bank...and on the honorary board of the Tunisian Community Center.

    Interview with Ferid Abbas...

    SALUTE TO THE TUNISIAN REVOLUTION
    TunisianCommunity.org

A celebration of the one year anniversary of the Tunisian Revolution was organized by the French Club at the US Military Academy at West Point, NY in collaboration with the Tunisian Community Center.

USMA, which has three tunisians among its Cadets, was well suited for the celebration considering the crucial role played by the Tunisian armed forces in the success of the Revolution.

The event took place on January 31st, 2012 at the impressive Acadamy's Eisenhower Hall. It was an opportunity to showcase the Tunisian Culture and celberate the Tunisian Revolution.

At the event, a video about the Tunisian Revolution and a PowerPoint presentation about Tunisia and the Tunisian-American friendship was followed by an excellent Q&A session.

After that the audience was treated to a cultural performance that included Tunisian traditional dinner, Tunisian dance and live Tunisian music by Layali Carthage.
