"It is truly Tunisia's day, a new day, with the chance for new sources of foreign direct investment, new incentives for entrepreneurship and job creation, and new opportunities for high-growth businesses",

Wrote Special Representative for Global Partnerships, Kris Balderston, describing the one-day "Tunisia Partnership Forum" that was convened in Washington, DC on November 15, 2011 by the State Department.

Fullfilling one of the objectives of the framework of bilateral cooperation signed in September 2011 between the Tunisian Foreign Minister and the US Secretary of State, the very well attended Forum focused on engaging the Tunisian community in the United States and creating mutually beneficial deals that would result in economic opportunity for both Tunisia and the United States.

At the breakaway session targeting the "Foundations" sector, a delegation from the Tunisian Community Center, had an opportunity to describe:
    a) Its plans to enhance the organization's already extensive reach and engagement with members of our community, and
    b) Its involvenment in mission-related type of investments.

It must have been a great experience for them, because upon their return to the U.S., they started their own association, called Friends Of Tunisia.

On October 7, 2011, President Obama announced that the Peace Corps will return to Tunisia. The focus of the volunteers assignment will be local capacity building.
