An Exciting New School Year Full of Promise!
Welcome back to another great year in the Douglas County School District and welcome to the inaugural issue of the Douglas County Educational Foundation (DCEF) newsletter.  We look forward to connecting with you and highlighting all of the great stories within our Foundation and our District.

Since 1990, DCEF has worked toward its stated mission "to develop private resources to enrich education within Douglas County Schools for the fulfillment of lifelong learning experiences of our students, citizens, and community."

Already in this new fiscal year, DCEF has accomplished a very successful school supply drive. With the help of our great partners, community members, and volunteers, DCEF provided nearly 600 students with much needed school supplies.
We were able to fill every request for students, teachers and families that needed help this year.

In addition, we are also providing schools with matching grants for a variety of needs through our "Fill the Gap" initiative and the generous donations of our supporters.  We are looking forward to announcing the annual Apple Awards celebration as well as the 2013 Golf for Education event next summer. Stay tuned for more details and great stories.

DCEF Chapter Retreat Features Tasting Menu and Great Ideas
Thanks to the hard work and dedication of parents across the district, DCEF Chapters have raised nearly $5 million to help schools and students. Representatives of these very impressive groups recently gathered at a mini retreat to celebrate the new school year and exchange ideas and information about school fundraising.  The event, hosted by Cherokee Ranch, featured an outstanding tasting menu orchestrated by DCSD Nutritional Services.

Announcing DCEF Chapter Chats

Have you ever wanted to take a peek into the inner workings of other Chapters? Has your Executive Board been tossing around ideas, but struggles to find an idea that sticks? The DCEF wants to help! We are launching a series of Chapter Chats in an effort to bring our Chapters together to brainstorm ideas, learn best practices from other Chapters, and share ideas. We are looking for Chapter representatives who are willing to jumpstart our conversations about certain topics. If your Chapter wants to share, please contact Michelle Tripp at 303-387-0502 or michelle.tripp@dcsdk12.org. Click here for complete schedule.

Our first Chapter Chat is THIS Thursday, September 27 from 10:00 - 11:30 am and the topic is "Dances and Golf Tournaments."  Hope to see you there!

Help Your School Make Money!

The DCSD/DCEF Community Night program started seven years ago with the Colorado Avalanche. Since that time, the DCEF has expanded the program to include most major sports teams in the Denver Metro Area, as well as several family-friendly attractions. We continue to expand our options and will begin to include arts and cultural events/venues over the course of this school year. These events and discounts are more than just a way for you to save money. Every event has a fundraising component to it as well. Each Community Night partner has agreed to allow a portion of each ticket sold for these events to be donated back to your school or to the DCEF. What better way to show your school spirit?! To learn more about the program and how to boost your community night revenue, contact Michelle Tripp at 303-387-0502 or michelle.tripp@dcsdk12.org or click here.
