MAJOR LEGAL VICTORY FOR OHV IN USA!
NHOHVA is pleased to report that that the Manager's Amendment to MAP-21, the Senate transportation bill containing a modified version of U.S. Sen. Amy Klobuchar's amendment continuing the Recreational Trails Program essentially unchanged, was accepted earlier this week on the Senate floor. This is a major legal victory for all OHV enthusiasts across the country!

We are very grateful to Sen. Klobuchar (D-MN) and her eight co-sponsors -- Michael Bennet (D-CO), Scott Brown (R -MA), Richard Burr (R-NC), James Risch (R-ID), Bernard Sanders (D-VT), Jeanne Shaheen (D-NH), Debbie Stabenow (D-MI), and Mark Udall (D-CO). Please be sure to let them know how much the trails community appreciates their leadership and support.

Congratulations on an incredible effort and an amazing success. Many told us this was an impossible mission, with the Congress and Administration so focused on program consolidation and opposition to non-highway spending. We showed them!

Threats to Our Sport Still Remain Everywhere!

Your favorite motocross track can be instantly shut down because of sound, dust, riders getting hurt, runoff into watersheds or plainly and simply because some neighbor doesn't like it. Or because the track cannot afford the liability insurance or they simply don't have riders who can afford to ride anymore.

How many of you know what it is like to have to take several months off from the sport due to an injury? How many of you know what it is like when you want to ride but you can't? Imagine if that feeling never went away. Ever again.

Wilderness areas and National Monuments are being proposed, in the words of the enlightened, "to protect the land for future generations." That means excessively restrictive regulations on lands that were already sufficiently supporting multiple-use recreation under their current designation.

Don't let this trend come to New Hampshire! Your help is needed now more than ever! Join NHOHVA and donate today! Don't let your right to ride pass you by!

NHOHVA is Here Fighting for YOU!

If you ride or register any OHV of any kind in NH, then NHOHVA is fighting for YOU. We represent the rights of all OHV users in this state and we are working to protect your right to ride! Please donate $10 today to help us keep up the fight! A portion of your $10 donation will go toward lobbying efforts to protect your rights with the NH state legislature. On the NHOHVA Docket

NHOHVA is fighting for your right to ride!  NHOHVA is keeping a vigilant eye out for any potential threats to our sport here in New hampshire and around the country.  Our work is never done and we will never rest!  These are some of the issues NHOHVA is currently working on and where we stand with each issue.

Remember NHOHVA is here working for you and your right to enjoy our sport. Here is the procedural posture of a few of the items on our docket:

  • SB0366-FN - relative to use of certain OHRV's on snowmobile trails and relative to authorization for snowmobiles and OHRVs registered in Vermont and Maine to operate in this state
    • 2/15/2012 - the most recent amendments to this bill are being considered and will be discussed at upcoming hearings on March 21 in Concord and March 22 in Lancaster
    • A public discussion on the amendments to this bill will also be discussed on March 27 in Concord, NH.  NHOHVA will testify before the New Hampshire legislature at this meeting on behalf of all OHV users in the state.
    • NHOHVA supports this bill as originally proposed but we do not support the recent amendments made to allow ME and VT riders to ride NH trails without registration in NH without a reciprocal agreement from those states. It is NHOHVA's position that out-of-state riders with out-of-state off-road registrations should not be allowed to ride NH trails without a reciprocity agreement from that state. Currently ME and VT do not allow wheeled OHVs on their state trails with a NH off-road registration only - a second registration is required for those states. NH should not allow free access to our trails until those states allow us free access to their trails - it is only fair.
  • HB1332 - relative to the law enforcement authority of fish and game officers
    • 2/22/2012 - with a vote of 181 to 165 this bill ought to pass
  • HB1337 - relative to the enforcement of violations of fish and game laws and establishing a committee to study the disposition of wildlife confiscated by the fish and game department
    • 2/22/2012 - this bill has been deemed inexpedient to legislate and put on hold
  • HB1442 - relative to motorcycle noise emissions regulation
    • 2/22/2012 - after some amendments this bill was voted 261 - 80 and ought to pass
  • NH1540 - relative to conservation easements on public land
    • 2/15/2012 - this bill has been put on hold
  • SB0250 - relative to operation of trail bikes and ATV's on state lands
    • 2/21/2012 - this issue has been reconvened for a later date

GNCC Update

The first round of the Grand National Cross Country Series at the Westgate River Ranch Resort in River Ranch, FL is in the books.  In the ATV XC1 Pro Class, three time and defending champion Chris Borich took home his first win of the season.  After hanging back in third place for the grueling course through the Florida sand, the talented Mr. Borich made a last lap pass on the leaders Adam Mcgil and Chris Bithell to round out the podium.  Can Borich continue to defend his championship throughout the remaining rounds?  Stick with NHOHVA while we follow the season of this amazing ATV rider.

In the bike class, NHOHVA would like to congratulate local talent Robbie Marshall who finished 16th place in the XC1 Pro class.  Also, Jake Korn finished in 5th place in the incredibly competitive XC2 Pro Lites Class.  Great job, Jake!  And Shawn Levesque demonstrated his dominance by finishing 4th in the 200A Class.  And congratulations to any local talent that did not make this list.  NHOHVA support your quest to chase your dreams.  Good luck in the remaining rounds to all competitors!
