Greetings,
Our search in Portugal last week found many incredible objects and art in museums and shops as you might expect in a country that flourished as a great trader in the 16th and 17th centuries. Regardless of news of European financial stress, we found prices to be very strong as it always is for high quality. The country seems especially rich in 18th century Chinese export porcelain.

Leading this week's letter is our early 18th century walnut inlaid slant front bureau . Likely Italian, this desk offers the earliest interior configuration of a sliding compartment access with flanking outboard interior drawers and pigeon holes.
The width is the best 35+" size and the writing height is 28 1/2".
Just arrived as well is the neoclassical oil lamp which has been properly wired for your use. This one is early 19th century brass with the wick tools still intact. Height 25" overall.
The inkstand is Spanish, 18th century with a pierced rim and bun feet.
The Dutch oil on canvas is 19th century and still has a marvelous gilt period frame. A brisk breeze blows as the boats head home at the end of the day beneath a sky with blustery clouds againt a sky with bold blues. Overall 27" x 36".
