Robert J Riesberg Antiques

Fine 17th, 18th, and 19th Century Antiques

Greetings,
It's a very warm day here. You may live with the assumption that all people in Minnesota must look forward to this heat because of our frighteningly cold winters. Believe me, they do not! -20  degrees F. is a gift to prevent overcrowding, but 110 degrees F.? Not here, not us.

I just purchased this circa 1790-1810 three section walnut banquet table this morning. Of the Hepplewhite type, the console like ends are somewhat scalloped in form with conforming aprons. More importantly, aprons and legs are carrying a good amount of inlay including line inlays with astragal corners on the crotch veneers at the aprons, rims banded with diamond and line details, and cuffed ankles.
The finish is an older lacquer. Length 113', width 45 3/4", height 29 3/8". the ends can be used separately as consoles and the center section as a dropleaf table.
To make this picture a bit more refreshing I have covered the table top with blue and white Chinese 19th century porcelain including vases, jars, plates, and more. Please call or email for specifics on any. Blue on white porcelain seems to always compliment wood furniture.
To the right are a true pair of period Louis XV fruitwood armchairs, 18th century. Foliate carving tops the well molded backs and arms framing a carefully chosen chintz above slender cabriole legs.
Seat heights are brought to a comfortable 18"-19" with full down cushions.
Opportunity at $1650 the pair.

Please do not hesitate to call or email with further questions or  more detailed images. We look forward to your call or visit. This update provides only partial updates to our collection. we promise new acquisitions for your interest and consideration each week.

   Warm regards,
