On collecting...
"What normal and bright boy fails to have a pocket full of his precious things? It is a person who does not collect that is abnormal and dull. The spirit of the collector consists of that divine curiosity which desires to observe and compare and on occasion to cherish whatever comes to the attention of human intelligence. -Wallace Nutting, Furniture Treasury, 1933.

Good morning,

One of my all time favorite forms of the 18th century is the wing chair. It is comfy, cozy, and great for reading or sitting in front of the fireplace. The wing chair form has lasted through the centuries and has taken a variety of expressive forms. Find a good one and you will not give it up.

We are offering this American Chippendale chair, circa 1760-90, in very nice condition having just been reupholstered and restored by our excellent long-time upholsterer. It is now ready for your enjoyment. Excessive layers of earlier fabric and stuffing have been carefully removed to reveal the clean original lines in the art of this chairmaker. The serpentine shape of the crest flows to the undulating wings which rest on delicately scrolled arms flanking a down cushion. Below, classic Chippendale style is used for walnut legs that carry this wonderful piece.
The exceptional cover, a Christian Liaigre creation, is an appropriate 18th century style floral damask that reaches to tones of both golds and grays.

This charming piece will distinguish your favorite room and reflect your knowledge and appreciation of  the quality in American 18th century design. Hesitation is not necessary at such a level of quality.
