Greetings!

The time is here for action to protect and preserve Madera Canyon.

Please join Friends of Madera Canyon board members in reserving Thursday, December 8th from Noon to 5:00 PM for participation in the Forest Service Public Meeting at the West Recreation Center in Green Valley. The meeting is set to begin at 1:00 PM but Rosemont's public relations firm has already established a pattern of trying to fill seats and time slots with their supporters to lock others out so we plan to arrive early. Our friends and partners in the Forest Service are open to hearing the full range of opinions and concerns, including yours.

If you need some motivation to get involved, please spend less than six minutes hearing and seeing Tom and Kathryn Purdon explain their opposition to this mine, at this time, in this place. Like many of us Tom and Kathryn understand both the need for mining and the unique and fragile resource of the Sky Islands and Madera Canyon.

Friends of Madera Canyon board members will also be taking advantage of one or more comment preparation meetings provided by Save the Scenic Santa Ritas.    
  • Friday, December 2nd 9:30 AM to 11:30 AM at the Green Valley American Legion, 1560 W. Duval Mine Rd. (Turn off Duval Mine Road as if you were going to the Titan Missile Museum. The driveway to the Legion hall will be on your left.)   
  • Saturday, December 3rd 1:30 PM to 3:30 PM at the Quail Creek Madera Club House, 2055 E. Quail Crossing Blvd. (On your left about 1.3 miles down the main Quail Creek entrance street.)   
  • Monday, December 5th from 1:30 PM to 3:30 PM at the Green Valley American Legion, 1560 W. Duval Mine Rd. (Turn off Duval Mine Road as if you were going to the Titan Missile Museum. The driveway to the Legion hall will be on your left.) 
  • Monday, December 5th from 7:00 PM to 9:00 PM at the Quail Creek Madera Club House, 2055 E. Quail Crossing Blvd. (On your left about 1.3 miles down the main Quail Creek entrance street.)  
Can't Attend a Meeting?

If you can't make a meeting, you can comment in other ways and it is worth doing. Your comment will carry weight however submitted.
