Welcome to Summer Newsletter
Greetings!

Oh my, how the time does fly.

So much has happened since our last newsletter, I'm a bit embarrassed to send this one out. But at least I have a decent excuse...

Thank you to everyone who stopped by, sent cards, asked the library staff, pitched in, and generally was wonderful during my hospitalization and recovery. I'm aiming to be back full time next week. Many, many thanks to MaryKay, Margie, Lecia, Michelle, and Dick for keeping the library running smoothly while I was out. It's wonderful to be back.

Memorial Weekend is fast upon us, our summer residents have been making appearances at the library, and the book publishers are sending out their "beach reads" for us to enjoy. We'll help you find the perfect vacation book(s) or movies or what have you whenever you stop in.

Summer means expanded library hours, lots of programs for kids and families, treats and contests for everyone, and a general busy-ness that we thrive on. Be sure to check the library website for all the latest news and events.

Look for the return of the Scholastic Book Fair, too (coming in late June to a library very near you).

Looking forward to seeing you often -

Bill Jamerson will share stories and songs of the young men who worked for the Civilian Conservation Corps this Thursday at 1:30
The Dollar-A-Day Boys:
A Story and Music Filled Celebration of the CCC

Bill Jamerson's programs have been described as a cross between a book talk and a music concert. He combines story telling, original songs, and video clips to create programs that are as entertaining as they are informative, and as honest as they are fun. Audience participation is encouraged with questions and sing along.
Over 3 million young men across America enlisted in the Civilian Conservation Corps during The Great Depression. Over 92,000 worked here in Wisconsin between 1933 and 1942. They planted trees, fought forest fires, constructed roads, worked on soil erosion control programs and built state parks. In the process, the CCC turned boys into men, teaching them good work habits and responsibility.

Bill takes his audience on a rollicking journey back to the days when Benny Goodman was the king of swing and a soda cost a nickel. The stories are sometimes hilarious, and often heart warming. We hope you can join us for a special afternoon of memories. Bill appears courtesy of the Friends of the Library.

             Summer Brings Expanded Library Hours

For the past several years, the Caestecker Library has remained open longer on summer Saturdays to accommodate our busy patrons. This year, we're also going to be open later during the week.

Beginning May 29 and running through Labor Day weekend, the library will be open Mondays through Thursdays from 9:00 a.m. to 7:00 p.m.; Fridays from 9:00 a.m. to 6:00 p.m.; Saturdays from 9:00 a.m. to 3:00 p.m.; and Sunday afternoons from 1:00 to 4:00.

We hope this change fits your schedule. Let us know what you think by dropping us a line.
