Sierra Lutheran Celebrates National Lutheran Schools Week: March 5-9
SLHS is pleased to celebrate the 165th anniversary of National Lutheran Schools Week this week. Since its formal inception in 1847, Lutheran schools have been providing high quality instruction from Christian teachers who care. This week over 300,000 students in almost 3,000 schools across the country will join together to celebrate this landmark event.
Thanks be to God for the "Gifts of Grace" Received at This Year's Dinner-Auction
The SLHS Gifts of Grace Dinner-Auction committee humbly thanks everyone who shared his/her time, talent, and treasure to help make Saturday's dinner-auction such a wonderful success. The early financial returns for this year's event share a blessing of approximately $32,000 raised for the Tuition Assistance Program. The long term benefits of Saturday's event are both limitless and priceless!
Scrip Orders Due on Thursday; Shop & Help SLHS at the Same Time
SLHS reminds you to either visit the Advancement link (Click Here),or stop by the school to complete a scrip form to help SLHS raise important revenue - just by shopping as you normally do. SLHS can earn anywhere from 1 - 20 percent of your every day purchases, just by purchasing scrip cards. Orders are due by Thursday at 4:00 p.m. to receive cards the following Wednesday.
Third Quarter Ends Friday; Grades Available Next Week on Edline
The third quarter for the 2011-12 academic year ends on Friday. As with first quarter grades, grades for the third quarter will not be mailed home but will instead be available on Edline. Grades for the third quarter will be posted next week.
PIP Accrual Cards to be Mailed Friday; School Work Days Scheduled for April 21 and June 1
SLHS will be mailing PIP statements on Friday to update families on the status of their PIP hour obligation, effective the end of the third quarter.
Families needing to fulfill PIP hours and/or students needing to catch-up on work study hours are encouraged to contact the school to take part in two school work days that have been established for Saturday, April 21 and Friday, June 1. Each work day will run from 9:00 a.m. - 1:00 p.m.

Lip Sync Contest Set For Next Tuesday, March 13, at 6:30 p.m.
The annual SLHS Lip Sync Contest will take place next Tuesday, March 13, at 6:30 p.m. in the school gymnasium. Each grade level will again field a team to compete for this year's lip sync crown, singing songs from this year's theme - "Songs From Their Birth Year."
Adding to the evening's festivities will be a special performance by the SLHS faculty and staff, as well as the return of a separate junior high competition for the middle school students from Bethlehem Lutheran School.
SLHS cordially invites the entire community to enjoy this uproarious night of fun and fellowship.
SAVE THE DATE: SLHS Spring Dinner - Show, "Maid to Order," on Friday, April 27
Sierra Lutheran will host a special night of dinner and drama on Friday, April 27, when SLHS performs "Maid to Order" in the gymnasium. This collaborative evening includes a dinner put on by the junior class followed by Maid to Order, a hilarious show of mistaken identities. Additional information on ticket prices as well as dinner and show times is forthcoming.
America Library of Poetry Announces 16th Annual Student Poetry Contest
The America Library of Poetry has announced the details of the 2012 Student Poetry Contest. Students in grades 3-12 are invited to submit entries of no more than 20 lines, on any subject, in any style. Studnets will be divided into and judged in four divisions: Grades 3-5, Grades 6-7, Grades 8-9, and Grades 10-12. Those finishing first, second, and third in each division will be awarded a U.S. Savings Bond and a certificate of achievement. One poem declared "Editor's Choice" will win a $500 U.S. Savings Bond.

Carson Rotary Club to Host Speech Competition on March 27
The Carson City Rotary Club has invited Sierra Lutheran High School to submit entries for its annual speech competition, which will be held on March 27. SLHS has been awarded two places in this year's competition. For more information, please see Dr. Seddon.
SLHS College Scholarship Bulletin
In an effort to connect Falcon families to as many funding sources as possible to defray the cost of a college education, SLHS has established a college scholarship bulletin. This piece has been established as a listing of private scholarships that have been sent to SLHS for dissemination. The bulletin will be e-mailed out each time a new scholarship becomes available.
