Student Dress Up Days Headline Countdown to Homecoming Weekend

Sierra Lutheran will host its first Homecoming 

celebration next weekend, January 13-14, following a slate of student dress up days. Beginning Monday, students are encouraged to take part in the dress theme of the day, as follows:

  

Monday: Pajama and Crazy Hair Day

Tuesday: Twin Day

Wednesday: 50's & 60's Day

Thursday: Dress up For Chapel Day

Friday: Spirit Day

 

A pep rally and class competitions are planned for next Friday. That evening the boys' and girls' basketball teams take on Mineral County - Boys JV at 4:00, Girls Varsity ta 5:45, and Boys Varsity at 7:30 p.m.

 

Alums will be treated to a hospitality room (Room 116) from 6:00 - 8:30 p.m. leading up to the coronation of Homecoming King and Queen, which will take place during halftime of the boys' varsity game.

 

The inaugural SLHS Homecoming Court includes:

 

Freshmen: Cali Benton and Jerod Hamilton

Sophomores: Katy Cobb and Nick Walker
Juniors: McKinze Tynes and Alex Borgman
Seniors: Hannah Ediss, Danielle Fletcher, Becky Grabow, Sierra Stulac, Brad Goins, Scott Johnson, John McRae, and Ben Sever

 

Sabin Takes 2nd Place in Fleet Reserve Association Essay Contest

Sophomore Ben Sabin took second place among area 10th graders who participated in the Fleet Reserve Association Essay Contest. Sabin's entry, which focused on Freedom of Speech, has been forwarded on to West Coast Regional competition for judging. West Coast Regional winning essays will be forwarded to the National Committee who will select the National Winners. The Grand Prize for the National Winner is a $10,000 savings bond.

 

Senior Scott Johnson Receives Student of the Month for January

Senior Scott Johnson was honored as the January Student of the Month at Thursday's chapel. Johnson, who carries a 3.69  grade point average and participates on the Academic Olympic team and the boys' varsity basketball team, was honored, among other things, for his efforts to be a spiritual and emotional leader on campus.  

 

SLHS Scrip Program Resumes; Orders Due by Next Thursday

Sierra Lutheran has resumed accepting scrip orders and will place the school's next order on Thursday. SLHS's order form can be obtained by clicking here. Order forms and payment (check or credit card) are due by next Thursday, January 12, at 4:00 p.m. in order to receive scrip gift cards the following Thursday.

 

In the short time since launching the program, SLHS has netted $800.00 Help the school reach its goal of $3,000 by the end of the fiscal year (June 30) by making your every-day purchases through scrip. Shop as you normally would and help SLHS in the process. 

  

Re-Enrollment for 2012-13 is Underway;

Re-Enroll Now for Deepest Discounts 

This week SLHS mailed home a re-enrollment reminder letter with instructions for returning families on how to re-enroll. Families who re-enroll by January 31 will pay the Early Bird rate of $175. Those who re-enroll from February 1 - March 31 will be asked to pay the Regular Rate of $250. Anyone re-enrolling after March 31 will pay the Late Rate of $325.

SLHS Open House for Prospective Families - 1/12

 

Regular Admission Deadline 1/31/12 

 

Sierra Lutheran High School will host a special Information Night for prospective families on Thursday, January 12, at 6:30 p.m. 

 

The program will begin with a brief plenary session about the school before giving way to a tour of the campus and the opportunity to meet the school's faculty and staff. To reserve a packet, RSVP to underwood@slhs.com.
