Seminar on How to Finance a College Education Set for Monday, December 5
Next Monday, December 5, Sierra Lutheran will host a college planning seminar entitled How to Finance a College Education, featuring Katherine Leao, Coordinator of Student Life at Western Nevada College. Ms. Leao will address such topics as how institutional assistance and government aid is established, the difference between merit-based and need based assistance, scholarships versus grants, secured and unsecured loan options, how work study factors into a financial aid package, available savings vehicles, and how to identify private scholarships.
The seminar will begin promptly at 6:30 in the school foyer. Both the SLHS community and the community at-large are strongly encouraged to attend this important event.
Falcon Basketball Kicks Into High Gear With Two Home Games Next Week
The SLHS girls' and boys' basketball teams will continue their early season schedules with home games next week. On Tuesday, December 6, the boys' JV team and the girls' varsity team will host Excel Christian at 4:30 and 6:00 p.m., respectively, followed by the boys' varsity game against Squaw Valley at 7:30 p.m. Next Wednesday, the boys' JV and varsity teams will host the Douglas High School frosh-soph and JV teams at 6:00 and 7:30, respectively.

With the Christmas shopping season now upon us, SLHS is strongly encouraging every Falcon family and supporter to purchase scrip cards for their purchases OR as gifts. Scrip gift cards make GREAT stocking stuffers with numerous businesses offering $5.00 and $10.00 gift cards.

After reviewing the list, use the same form to generate your order. Forms are due to SLHS by 4:00 p.m. every Thursday. Cards will be available for pick-up the following Thursday.
Re-Enrollment Begins For 2012-13 School Year; Re-Enroll Early And Save
The re-enrollment process for the 2012-13 school year is now underway and includes a discount for families who re-enroll early. Families who re-enroll by January 31 will pay the Early Bird rate of $175. Those who re-enroll from February 1 - March 31 will be asked to pay the Regular Rate of $250. Anyone re-enrolling after March 31 will pay the Late Rate of $325.
