SLHS Cross Country Enjoys Success at Rite of Passage Meet
Seniors Becky Grabow and Nathanel Williams finished first in their respective races to lead the SLHS Cross Country program to a successful day at the Rite of Passage meet in Yearington yesterday.
Grabow finished the 3.1 mile course with a time of 20:07 while sophomore Erin Henry fnished 8th in 21:29. Williams' winning time of 16:15 paced the boys team to a first place finish. Also placing in the top ten were Donovan Harrison in 5th place (17:56) and Luke Barulich in 8th place (18:02).
Next up for the cross country program will be the State Regional Meet on Friday, October 28, at Rancho San Rafael in Reno, which will also serve as the site of the State Meet the following weekend. The girls varsity race is set for 10:00 a.m. The boys race is set for 12:35 p.m. Note: These times will be the same for the State Meet on November 5.
Interest Meeting for SLHS Pep Band to Take Place on 10/25 in Room 116
SLHS's Mr. Harrison is taking sign-ups for those interested in participating in the school's new pep band. After helping lead Elko High School's music program to prominence, including EHS's participation in the Rose Parade, Orange Bowl Parade, Macy's Thanksgiving Day Parade, and several Presidential Inaugurations, Mr. Harrison is forming a combined band of both high school and middle school students who wish to play at SLHS home basketball games this season. SLHS students interested in this opportunity should plan to attend a lunchtime meeting in Room 116 on October 25. Middle school students interested in participating should call the school office at 267-1921.

patient, to amputee survivor when he speaks at Lifepoint Church this weekend. Draveky will be speaking Saturday, October 22, at 4:30 pm and Sunday, October 23, at 9:00 am and 10:45 am.
