Dear Friend of the Falcons:
As Sierra Lutheran High School embarks upon its 10th Anniversary celebration, it gratefully remembers the many people and the many relationships that have made it possible for SLHS to become recognized as one of Nevada's up and coming high schools. This week, SLHS was blessed to learn that one of the area's most respected public agencies will be coming alongside SLHS as an important new partner that will provide the school additional momentum.
After collaborating with the Tahoe Transportation District (TTD) on a transportation survey sent to Sierra Lutheran families this summer, I am pleased to share that the TTD has announced its intention to add a bus stop at SLHS, effective October 1, 2011. The SLHS bus stop will serve as a drop-off and pick-up location for three unique areas in the school's catchment area. The three areas include a southern route that services the Minden-Gardnerville area, a western route that services South Lake Tahoe, and a northern route that collaborates with Jump Around Carson (JAC) to provide transportation from Carson City. Morning passengers on each route would be dropped off at SLHS just prior to first period. Afternoon passengers would have the option of taking a bus scheduled to pick-up immediately after school or at approximately 5:00 p.m. to accommodate after-school activities.
Further details, including the release of exact route times, how to purchase passes and one-way tickets, and other pertinent information are forthcoming. For now, please join me in thanking the Tahoe Transportation District for its support of SLHS and its commitment to providing current - and future - Falcons a convenient commuting alternative.
God Bless,
Brian Underwood
