June 2012Issue N0. 17

Love is "divine' because it comes from God and unites us to God; through this unifying process it makes us a "we" which transcends our divisions and makes us one, until in the end God is "all in all".

LI Stand Up for Freedom JUNE 8TH
As Catholics, we have been given a grave obligation to understand and protect our faith and morals as the Church holds, and with a spirit of love and truth, we are called to evangelize and shine light to the darkness of our culture and world. This issue of religious liberty is one that not only affects this generation, but will have a serious impact on the way our future generations will live and practice their faith. (More)

Religious Liberty Prayer campaign

The fourteen days from June 21-the vigil of the Feasts of St. John Fisher and St. Thomas More-to July 4, Independence Day, are dedicated to this "fortnight for freedom"-a great hymn of prayer for our country. Our liturgical calendar celebrates a series of great martyrs who remained faithful in the face of persecution by political power-St. John Fisher and St. Thomas More, St. John the Baptist, SS. Peter and Paul, and the First Martyrs of the Church of Rome.  Culminating on Independence Day, this special period of prayer, study, catechesis, and public action would emphasize both our Christian and American heritage of liberty. Dioceses and parishes around the country could choose a date in that period for special events that would constitute a great national campaign of teaching and witness for religious liberty.

In the Spotlight
Fatherhood and the Sacredness of Human Life

By Kimberly Baker

The upcoming celebration of Father's Day is a fitting time to examine the irony that in our current culture, fatherhood is rarely mentioned. When mentioned at all, fathers are mocked or portrayed negatively. Some movies and stories downplay the role of the father in a child's life, yet simultaneously portray the child as suffering from the father's inability to live up to that role.

 Living With Trisomy 13
By Vanessa Hernadez

Sadly, many professionals will claim that these syndromes are "incompatible with life". We are here to show you that with strength, support and faith in GOD, all things are possible. Many of these miraculous children are long term survivors. We invite you to view our photo albums of children living with these rare disorders and read the stories these families share about how they and their children are growing in love. (Full Story)
