Greetings!

" Human Life is sacred and inviolable at every moment of existence, including the initial phase which precedes birth. All human beings, from their mother's womb belong to God who searches them and knows them, who forms them and knits them together with his own hands, who gazes on them when they are tiny shapeless embryos and already sees in them the adults of tomorrow whose days are numbered and whose vocation is now even written in the "book of life".

  OPPOSE THE  REPRODUCTIVE HEALTH ACT

                 ACT HERE

Please take action to oppose the Reproductive Health Act which is a radical abortion bill that seeks to expand abortion in New York State.

 MEMORANDUM OF OPPOSITION

Re:  A.6112 Glick / S.2844 Stewart- Cousins

The above-referenced legislation would make radical changes to abortion law in New York State.  It is unnecessary, extreme and dangerous.  For the reasons outlined below, the New York State Catholic Conference strongly opposes this legislation and urges that it be defeated.

This legislation is being promoted as a mere codification of Roe vs. Wade in New York law.  In fact, this bill does not simply "update" the law or codify Roe, but would usher in extreme and sweeping changes to abortion policy in New York State. More

In the Spotlight

SUPPORT PREGNANT WOMEN AND OPPOSE ABORTION

Please ask your legislator to increase funding for the Maternity and Early Childhood Foundation The MECF helps to support organizations that provide pre and post natal services across New York State. Funding has decreased sharply over the past three years and needs to be increased in this year's budget and supporting pregnant women and their child is of the highest priority.

GUEST CHAT  - Marianne Sheridan,

Coordinator of Youth, Campus Ministry and Young Adults

"It is a poverty to decide a child must die so that you may live as you wish. - Mother Teresa .... These are the words that began our day on January 22, 2012.

As we all know, January 22, 1973, marked the Supreme court decision of Roe vs. Wade, which has shaped debate about abortion in America ever since; and, for the past 39 years, thousands of people from all walks of life and from all age groups, continue to "March on Washington" in an effort to defend the life of the unborn. This year, it was my privilege to travel with a group of faith-filled and impassioned young adults from the Diocese of Rockville Centre. These young adults from Hofstra University, Stony Brook University and the Young Adult Group from the Diocese were on fire with God's love for all life - the born and unborn. For me, It was a blessing to be part of this group as we prayed together the divine Mercy Chaplet on the bus, as we prayed the Rosary while walking in the cold and rain and while they lifted their voices in song and praise as they walked the streets of Washington D.C.  For the young people who made this journey, it truly was a testament to the passion that our diocese has for defending this precious gift of life and to be the voice of the "voiceless".
