From February 17-21, 5 boys from the Bolivia Life Center orphanage, along with CIN's Adventure Therapist, Brian McArthur, took part in a survival camp coordinated by YWAM in Tarija, Bolivia. After a 20 hour bus ride through the Andes mountains on dirt highways, Ramiro, Grover, Roberto, Cristian and Luis Fernando soon started to test and prove their abilities to lead, serve and work as a team with other young people from all over Bolivia. They spent 4 days and nights in the field testing their strength of character, of body, of mind and of faith. Here are some of their thoughts from the camp:
"I really liked the way my group worked together to reach our goals; it produced a great feeling of camaraderie." - Grover
"God taught me a lot about the value of personal responsibility and being punctual." - Luis Fernando
"I had to help the girls on my team a lot. But I was able to evaluate where our team needed the most help, and that's where I stepped in, to make my team stronger. A leader has to be prepared, has to give directions, and has to lead by example." - Roberto
"I learned how to express myself with God through prayer, thanks to all the time my group spent in prayer together in the face of every situation." - Ramiro
"I learned how to depend on God; how to make decisions after asking him for direction. I felt much more confident making decisions for my group after consulting with God. - Cristian
