 Five Ways to Connect at Good Shepherd
Family Cookout Many of our young families have expressed an interest in getting together socially. They have organized a cookout, open to anyone, this Saturday, September 22 at 5:00 p.m.The playground will be open for the kids while the adults get to fellowship on the back parking lot. Bring a side dish or dessert to share. RSVP to Winn Stephens or 859-229-1180. Choral Evensong THIS SUNDAY The Good Shepherd choirs sing their first Choral Evensong of the year this Sunday at 5:00 p.m. This will also be Reggie Smith's last time to sing with the choir. Please come and bring your friends and neighbors! A reception will follow in the Undercroft. Senior Lunch Bunch If you are a senior, think you might be a senior, want to be a senior, can't help being a senior--you are invited to a catered lunch in the Undercroft on Friday, September 28 at 12:30 p.m. Fr. Pastoral Care Team Meeting welcomes Pastoral Leadership Professor from Lexington Theological Seminary On Wednesday, September 26 at 7:00 p.m. in the Library, Dr. Barbara Blodgett will speak on the topic of appropriate boundaries and confidentiality in pastoral settings. Dr. Blodgett has written and lectured widely on a variety of topics related to ethics in ministry. She is an engaging speaker and we welcome all to come hear her. Please join us. For more information contact Dianne Griffith. Support Important Outreach Ministries Next Sunday, September 30, we hope you will pick one of these two outreach ministries to support. Church Under the Bridge, a ministry to the homeless and minimally housed in our city, meets at 3:00 p.m. at Mission House, 203 East Fourth Street. Those attending are served a nutritious meal and hear a sermon and music. Contact Pam Noyes or 859-873-5230 for more information.The 2012 Crop Hunger Walk also takes place next Sunday, September 30 at 3:00 p.m. beginning at Second Presbyterian Church. A bus will be available for those who either can't or don't want to walk but wish to participate. Twenty-five percent of donations go to God's Pantry. It Makes Our Hearts Glad...
...that a large and enthusiastic group of people enjoyed lunch together last Sunday and then received training in various aspects of our many lay ministries. Look for new faces serving in the coming weeks.
...that Mission Lexington Medical Clinic, a project of Good Shepherd and other Lexington churches, will be moving to its new building this Saturday, September 22. Breakfast will be served at Calvary Baptist Church, 150 East High Street, at 8:30 a.m., followed by moving from the old quarters on Trent Boulevard to the new building at 230 South Martin Luther King. Help will be needed to load vehicles at Trent Boulevard, drive to the new location, and unload.
...that Good Shepherd was well represented at the Walk to Defeat ALS at Rupp Arena last Saturday, supporting the Armisteads and remembering Deacon Janie Catron.

Necial Harkless in the News 
Join Dr. Necial Harkless at Georgetown College this Saturday, September 22 from 9:00 to 11:00 a.m. as she signs copies of her books "Heart to Heart" and "Nubian Pharoahs and Merotic Kings" as part of the college's annual homecoming festivities. This event takes place in the Hall of Fame Room at the Cralle Student Center, 400 East College Street, Georgetown.
"Necia Desiree Harkless...A Renaissance Woman" begins airing this weekend on KETKY (available on digital channel 54.3; check with your cable or satellite provider for KETKY availability). At 93 years old, Necia is a true renaissance woman.This program chronicles her incredible life beginning in Detroit in the early 1920s. |

A photographer will be set up in the Loggia/Concourse area Sunday morning to take pictures for anyone who doesn't currently have their image in Courtyard.
