Makes Our Hearts Glad
It Makes Our Hearts Glad...

...that Don Fishback received the Franklin Moosnick Service Award for his long term service to the American Heart Association.

...that Roland and Dava Hauser are grandparents! Their granddaughter Addy Elizabeth Waits was born on July 31 in Ft. Worth, Texas. Addy's parents are Brandon and Emily Waits.

...that seven of our young adult members about to leave for their first year of college got together twice with Deacon Lauren last weekend for food, fellowship and advice.

...that four choir members completed Royal School of Church Music (RCSM) this summer--Katherine Wright at Washington, D.C. and Lee Jenkins, Joe Jones and Reba Roberts in Pennsylvania.

"It Makes Our Hearts Glad" provides a way for members and friends to strengthen the fabric of our community by sharing good news or offer affirmations. The word "glad" is derived from Old and Middle English words meaning shining or bright. Add to the weekly "Glad Report" by email or by calling 859.252.1744.

Choir Fundraiser - Krispy Kreme DoughnutsKrispy Kreme Choir Fundraiser

Beginning this Sunday and continuing on Sundays in August, $7 will get you a certificate for a dozen regular glazed doughnuts at your local Krispy Kreme store, and help Good Shepherd's choirs raise funds for their next singing tour. You get to save tax on a dozen doughnuts and the choirs get a percentage of the sales.

Visit the display in the Loggia on Sunday. Have a doughnut hole and purchase some certificates. They make great employee and teacher appreciation gifts, too, and with no expiration date, you can use them any time. Cash accepted-correct change preferred-and personal checks made out to Good Shepherd with 'Krispy Kreme' on the memo line.

Diocese of Lexington Arms
Next Bishop of Lexington to be Elected
The 2012 Convention of the Diocese of Lexington will reconvene at Christ Church Cathedral on Saturday, August 18 to elect the 7th Bishop of Lexington. Good Shepherd will be represented by its clergy and four lay deputies. Those deputies are Ken Miller, Bob Rogers, Jim Willard and Sarah Charles Wright. The new Bishop will succeed Bishop Stacy Sauls, will be in the diocese in the early fall, and will be consecrated on December 15 at Christ Church Cathedral.

The six bishop nominees were in the diocese last week, appearing at three potluck dinners, two Q and A sessions and a panel discussion while visiting many of the churches in the diocese. The Friday evening Q and A held at Good Shepherd was well attended and streamed live to a reported 600 viewers.

Biographical notes, written responses to a series of questions, a brief video commentary and the Friday Q and A may all be viewed on the diocesan website. All members of the parish are strongly encouraged to view these materials and share their comments and questions with the deputies. The polity of the Church provides that the parish representatives are not sent to Convention as instructed delegates. However, input from the members of the parish is vital in helping make good decisions.

View the information and let us hear from you.
