Good Shepherd friends,

We have received word about an opportunity for the Lexington faith community to respond to the critical need for bone marrow donors, especially adults between the age of 18 to 60. Donors are added to the National Marrow Donor Registry and the process of donation is now far less invasive and requires only a cheek swab. A robust list of bone marrow donors gives hope to the many people who are in need of marrow transplant.

An ecumenical drive to register donors will be held in the following locations:

Friday, June 8
5:00--6:30 p.m. at Temple Adath Israel, 124 North Ashland Avenue

Saturday, June 9, 2012

10:00 a.m.--2:00 p.m. at the Unitarian Universalist Church of Lexington, 3564 Clays Mill Road

Sunday, June 10, 2012

1:00--5:00 p.m. at the Historic St. Paul AME Church, 251 North Upper Street

For more information about how to help, Stella and Alan Goren will be available to answer questions after the 9:00 and 11:15 a.m. services this Pentecost Sunday, May 27, or call them at 859-255-9420.

This week during a morning meditation, I came across this quotation from John Chrysostom...

"This is the rule of most perfect Christianity, its most exact definition, its highest point, namely, the seeking of the common good...for nothing can so make a person an imitator of Christ as caring for his neighbors."

At Good Shepherd, we have inherited a legacy of caring for our neighbors. This upcoming marrow donor drive is another tangible way to care.

Peace,
Brian+
