The Campaign for a New Organ for Good Shepherd
August 2, 2011
Dear ,
In the life of a congregation, there is seldom an opportunity to make a significant and lasting impact upon the church and its ministry. I am pleased to say that currently, there is such an opportunity at The Church of the Good Shepherd.
As we look back, it's easy to conclude that we are the beneficiaries of many who have gone before us at Good Shepherd. We are blessed with an architecturally beautiful church dating from the 1920s. We have also inherited a marvelous Anglican tradition of worship and music that is interwoven into the very fabric of Good Shepherd. Combined, these elements have drawn generations of worshippers through the decades, and they continue to inspire us today.
Today, we have an opportunity for similar stewardship to enhance the legacy of Good Shepherd for those who will follow us. Simply put, after many, many years of service, the Good Shepherd organ needs to be replaced. Here is a link to information summarizing how the leadership of our congregation carefully came to this conclusion, selected an organ builder, and authorized a campaign to raise support for this important, once-in-a-lifetime project.
As you can imagine, replacing our organ will be a major financial undertaking. We must install the level of instrument appropriate for the historic beauty and quality of our nave. Already, the leadership and others have made lead gifts totaling over $534,677 toward this $1.4 million project. To reach our goal, we must now secure additional support from all our communicants . . . and from all our other friends who value the church and its minis-try of music.
I therefore invite you to join us in this worthy project by making a gift commitment at this time. If you and others will pledge an amount equal to or greater than your regular annual contribution, we will reach our goal. Commitments can be fulfilled over a 36-month period (spanning four tax years), with completion due in October 2014. Click here to download a pledge card.
I ask that you prayerfully consider this request. And I hope you will join us in this grand undertaking that will make a significant and lasting impact upon the church and its ministry for decades to come . . . for the glory of God.
Sincerely,
George Zack, Chair
Organ Capital Campaign Committee
P.S. Gifts for the organ project should be above and beyond your regular annual support.
