Greetings! The Nominating Committee is very happy to report that we have now received names for the Rector position at Good Shepherd. Candidates have come to us through nomination, application, as well as through computer match, a system which matches the needs of our parish with the skills of available clergy.
All names we have received have been preliminarily approved by the Bishop to continue the process. We are now entering into the active process of mutual discernment. Because the search and naming of a new rector is a call and not a hire, everyone involved throughout the process is committed to critical reflection and prayer for guidance and direction. We hope and ask that you also spend time in prayer for a fruitful and rewarding transition.
We as a committee are searching for someone with the right skills and competencies that will allow us to meet our goals and overcome our challenges. We will carefully review each candidate's skills with our needs and vision for moving Good Shepherd forward.
At this point, all candidates have been mailed a letter acknowledging our receipt of their name, along with our parish brochure and a list of questions to answer so that we may get to know them better.
Upon receiving answers to those questions, we will begin to narrow down our list of candidates and work more closely with those who emerge as compatible and notable matches. Our goal is to progress to this next step by the beginning of September. At this point we are entering a confidential portion of the process for the protection of those interested in the position. We as a Nominating Committee will remain open and transparent about the process, but we must withhold any specific information about any candidate. As always, we appreciate your trust and prayers throughout this important journey.
Thank you for your support!
Almighty God, giver of every good gift: Look graciously on your Church, and so guide the minds of those who shall choose a rector for this parish, that we may receive a faithful pastor, who will care for your people and equip us for our ministries; through Jesus Christ our Lord. Amen.
