Dear ,
In February, following the announcement of Sandy Emerson's plan to retire, the Board of Directors of Good Shepherd Day School appointed a committee to guide a process of transition leading to the call of a new executive director. The committee, chaired by Michelle Coates, is made up of the following persons:
· Pam Brown - Good Shepherd parishioner, board chair, educator
· Barbara Groves - Good Shepherd parishioner, board member, educator, former staff
· Jennifer Wilson - Good Shepherd parishioner, board member, parent, physician
· Whitney Durham - parent of 3 GSDS children, realtor
· Jennifer Palumbo - parent of 2 GSDS children, tv news anchor
· Michelle Coates - parent of 3 GSDA children, former GSDS staff, business owner
· Debbie Lutz - longstanding GSDS staff (3-year olds)
· Laura Sikora - longstanding GSDS staff (4-year olds)
· Hans Flueck - Good Shepherd parishioner, parent of 2 GSDS children
· Ron Pogue - Good Shepherd Interim Rector
They went to work right away and recommended to the board that we engage an interim director to allow more time for self-study, goal setting, and adjustments between permanent directors. The board agreed with that proposal. Last week, following a careful review of many excellent applicants, the committee presented a name for the board's consideration.
We are pleased to announce that the board has hired Penny Williamson to serve as our interim director. She will begin her duties on June 13, 2011, allowing her some time with Ms. Sandy, and will continue in the interim position until June 30, 2012. We are making this announcement at the Day School this afternoon simultaneous with the distribution of this message.
HERE is a letter from Penny Williamson that will help you begin to get to know her. It is our prayer that all of our church and day school families and staff will welcome her and give her your cooperation and support during the coming year.

Pam Brown Ronald D. Pogue
Board Chair Interim Rector
