From the Interim Rector
Greetings!
The Fourth Sunday of Easter is Good Shepherd Sunday every year. It is the closest thing we have to a patronal feast at The Church of the Good Shepherd. Bishop Sauls will be with us for all three services. We are presenting twenty-six adults and three children to him.
HERE are some reflections about the Good Shepherd.
I'll see you in church!

 Prayers of the People
A prayer list will now be included each week in the service bulletin. We encourage you to say these names on Sunday at the appropriate place, then take the prayer list home and pray for them during the week. On Sunday when the Intercessor says, "For those we now name..." speak out the name(s) listed and add your own petitions for all the church to hear. Please continue to call the church office or notify the clergy or any staff member of persons you want to add to the prayer list. The names will stay on for 30 days.

Transition News from Your Nominating Committee
The Nominating Committee would like to thank everyone for their active and thoughtful participation in the four Holy Conversations held earlier this spring. Each one was a unique opportunity that allowed us to share our vision and goals for Good Shepherd and its bright future. Following the conversations, the Nominating Committee met on April 16 to synthesize every goal, disappointment and challenge referenced at those gatherings. On May 1, we met again, and through careful discussion and reflection created our parish goals and challenges, which will be presented to the Vestry for approval at their May 17 meeting. Pending Vestry approval, they will be sent to the Bishop for final approval. The Committee will then work to create our profile, which will be pulled together in a brochure that highlights our parish history, goals and challenges as well as essential information about our diocese and the city of Lexington. Our goal is to present the profile and brochure to the Vestry and Bishop for approval in June so that the position can be officially opened for candidates in July.
The committee is very encouraged by the positive work so far, and we look forward to continuing this important process. Please continue to check The Shepherd's Voice for periodic updates. In addition, we will be providing more detailed updates on the Transition News page of the web site with links through Facebook and Twitter. Again, we would like to thank everyone at Good Shepherd for their continued support and prayers for the election of a new rector. We welcome and encourage questions and input from everyone throughout this journey.

Do You Like to Cook? Karen Workman Booth and Paula Ott will be ordained to the Diaconate on Sunday, June 5 at 4 p.m. at Christ Church Cathedral. Sponsoring churches provide a reception following the service. Since Karen is "ours" and Paula did her field placement here, many folks are needed to prepare finger sandwiches, appetizers and other pick-up foods for this happy occasion. Please sign up in the Loggia or contact Cindy McKee if you can assist.
Also, the Food Ministry is looking for a few more people to prepare a meal no more than a few times a year. Contact Nancy Wilson at 523-2335 or nancywil51@hotmail.com for more information or to offer your assistance with this ministry.

United Thank Offering
The Diocese of Lexington is one of the smaller dioceses in the Episcopal Church. It's easy to think that what we do won't make a difference. Yet one prayer is all that is needed to begin an ever-widening circle of thankfulness. From those prayers come thankful offerings which become answered prayers for others in the form of United Thank Offering (UTO) grants. Good Shepherd's UTO Spring Ingathering will be Sunday, June 12. What are you thankful for?
