From the Interim Rector

Greetings!Ron Pogue Photo 2

During the forty days of Lent each year we spend time getting ready for the celebration of Easter. There is fasting, self-denial, prayer, intensified devotion, scripture study, and other disciplines designed to cleanse our hearts. Then, comes the big celebration, Easter. Like so many Christian holy days, Easter seems to disappear the next day as life returns to "normal." But Easter should be more than that to us!  It certainly was to those early disciples. Easter is more than a day!  READ MORE.

I'll see you in church!

The Feast of the Resurrection: Easter Day

Collect

Almighty God, who through your only-begotten Son Jesus Christ overcame death and opened to us the gate of everlasting life: Grant that we, who celebrate with joy the day of the Lord's resurrection, may be raised from the death of sin by your life-giving Spirit; through Jesus Christ our Lord, who lives and reigns with you and the Holy Spirit, one God, now and for ever. Amen.

Mother's Day
Celebrate Mother's Day by Helping Those in Need
A Mother's Day tradition at Good Shepherd is to provide food to those in need in the name of our mothers and other special women in our lives. This year, monetary donations can be made to fund Children's Backpack Blessing, a new Outreach Ministry project. Many school-aged children who receive free meals at school do not get the food they need over the weekend. With backpack programs, teachers discretely fill a backpack each Friday afternoon with foods that the child can eat over the weekend that do no require cooking, such as peanut butter, crackers, cereal, etc. Special envelopes will be available in the service bulletin on May 8. Make checks payable to Good Shepherd with "Children's Backpack Blessing" on the memo line. Letters acknowledging your thoughtful gift will be sent to your honoree by the church office.

Wine Tasting
