From the Interim Rector

Greetings!Ron Pogue Photo 2

During Holy Week, we will walk with Jesus in the Way of the Cross. We should remember that Jesus carried two kinds of crosses. Read More.

Remember the fourth and final Holy Conversation is This evening, April 14, from 6:00 until 8:00 p.m. in the parish hall of the Second Presbyterian Church. The theme of the evening is "My Spiritual Preferences." The Rector Nominating Committee and the Diocesan Leadership Team are ready to hear your stories!  They can't hear them if you aren't there.

I'll see you in church!

Sunday of the Passion: Palm Sunday

Collect

Almighty and everliving God, in your tender love for the human race you sent your Son our Savior Jesus Christ to take upon him our nature, and to suffer death upon the cross, giving us the example of his great humility: Mercifully grant that we may walk in the way of his suffering, and also share in his resurrection; through Jesus Christ our Lord, who lives and reigns with you and the Holy Spirit, one God, for ever and ever. Amen.

Hallowed Be Thy NameLenten Wednesday Evenings ~
Hallowed Be Thy Name in Recreation and Home
Join us on April 20 as we conclude our Lenten series based on the plaques placed in the bombed-out ruins of Coventry Cathedral. For those who come to the 5:30 p.m. Tenebrae service, we'll offer a light supper afterwards. Karen Tallon will follow at 7 p.m. with a presentation about how she and her family integrate their faith through all they do. Sometimes we are tempted to leave our faith at the door of the church after the Holy Eucharist on Sunday has ended, but we are called to live our faith through all parts of our lives.
Foot Washing
Maundy Thursday Foot Washing
God calls us to love and serve one another. Jesus demonstrated this to his disciples by performing the act of a servant and he washed their feet. This Maundy Thursday, we will undertake this act of loving service; you will have the opportunity to have your feet washed by one of the clergy.  This may be uncomfortable for some, and this is the kind of discomfort we live in when we allow ourselves to be vulnerable in loving service. We invite you to encounter this with us this Holy Week.

Easter Flowers
Decorate the Church for Easter
Volunteers are needed to help decorate the church for Easter Day. This labor of love begins at 9 a.m. on Saturday, April 23, and a light lunch will be provided. Come for the morning or any amount of time you can give. The Flower Committee would appreciate receiving any flowering branches from your yard or garden to use for decorations. Bring them to the church on Friday or Saturday, April 22 or 23, and leave them near the Bell Court door that goes to the Undercroft.
Good Shepherd Day School Seeks Interim Director
