Interim Day School Director
Good Shepherd Day School, Lexington, Kentucky
Current enrollment: 175 students, Ages 2 through Kindergarten
Position available June 2011
The mission of the Good Shepherd Day School, an educational ministry of the Good Shepherd Episcopal Church, is to nurture the development of the whole child spiritually, intellectually, emotionally, socially, and physically.
Good Shepherd Day School is a member in good standing of the National Association of Episcopal Schools. The school is a member of the Kentucky Association for Early Childhood Education, and currently engaged in a self-study required for reaccreditation by the National Association for Education of Young Children. The school has obtained a Level 3 rating by the STARS program. The Day School is operated by the Good Shepherd Corporation and run by the Day School Director under the advisement of the Board of Directors.
The successful candidate for the Interim Day School Director will have the option to apply for the permanent Day School Director position when it is advertised.
Job Requirements:
Master's Degree in Early childhood Education
Kentucky Directors Credentials preferred
Minimum 2 years of supervisory and managerial experience
Minimum 3 years of early childhood teaching experience as a head teacher
Extensive knowledge of childhood development
Excellent written and verbal communication skills
Experience with maintaining a budget and fundraising
Knowledge of State and Federal regulations and NAEYC Standards
Special Education knowledge and experience a plus
Computer skills are essentia
The Interim Director works closely with the Board of Directors to ensure the school's success. As a member of the leadership team in Good Shepherd Parish, the Interim Day School Director also works in a supportive and collegial manner with the Rector, Clergy, Staff, and Vestry.
