One of the Newmarket rites of spring is the Great Bay Half Marathon and Beyond the Rainbow 5K road race, which take place in Newmarket this weekend.  Over 4000 runners are expected to take on this beautiful course on Sunday, April 3rd.  The race starts at 11:00 a.m. and finishes right near the Mill's front door on Main Street in downtown Newmarket. There will be a post race celebration, food and the Smuttynose beer tent adjacent to Schanda Park. For more information and to register, visit the Great Bay Half Marathon website.

Recently, you may have noticed a few changes to the exterior of the mill. The courtyard has been full of activity with trucks and equipment preparing the site. The Lamprey Building was demolished to make way for the new public park and green space. There is much going on inside the mill as well, as we begin the transformation of abandoned space to beautiful apartments and commercial space. Commercial space is leasing fast with four new businesses already signed up to join New England Footwear and the Chinburg Builders Design Center in the next couple of months.  

 

The new tenants represent an eclectic mix of outdoor gear

and apparel companies (biking, running, walking, hiking), artists and artisans.
